Im curious. My son has now applied to University Of Toledo, Colorado School of Mines, U of Louisville, U of Wyoming, U of West Virginia, Austin Peay, West Texas AM. U of New Mexico. We have heard from all but Toledo. ISU, CSM, UWV in their admission letter stated the merit scholarship he has earned. Wyoming, and Louisville all have on their websites what you will earn based on your GPA/ACT matrix. I am curious do some schools send admission letters and then send merit scholarship letters? Do some wait until the FASFA is completed? What has been your experiences?
I know Wyoming will send a letter. Back in the olden days, the FAFSA couldn’t be filed until Jan 1 and then you had to update it with your taxes, so the letters didn’t come out until Feb but now they should come out earlier. He could also get department scholarships after the main Brown and Gold (engineering is likely $2500). Department scholarships should have a separate letter.
But I’d say most schools will send out a merit award letter because they want you to accept and go to that school! If not, look on the portal for the FA page.
My son applied EA to University of Louisville. We contacted Admissions Office and they said merit letters will come in mail before Thanksgiving.
My son was notified for a small scholarship with his EA acceptance and asked to apply to competitive scholarships by Dec 15. Have not yet applied, but got a letter from financial aid today. Unopened as he is not home. Anyone receive merit award letters today?
We received a merit letter dated November 3 a few weeks ago. Received another letter in the mail today outlining all financial aid.
This is what I’ve been wondering about – our son has four acceptances so far, each with a specified merit award. But at what point do we get a full financial aid breakdown? Reading between the lines on your post, it takes 2-3 weeks?
