When do ED applicants hear back?

Does anyone know whether Vandy lets all ED applicants know on the same date (Dec. 15) or possibly sooner?
Seems to vary from school to school.

Last year's results were mailed the 15th and results began to show up here the next day. We live in KY and D got her letter the 17th, but a friend at same high school got his on the 16th. Good luck - I remember what an anxious time that was!

They don't send out via email?

I don't know about international applicants, but all communication to US applicants is via US mail. Senior son got his regular decision acceptance via priority mail in late march '02; freshman daughter got a regular legal size acceptance envelope and then a priority envelope at the same time regular decision went out. Her intial letter notified her of acceptance; the priority information included housing, important dates, etc.

Thanks, 2VU for reply. I assume your kids have been happy with Vanderbilt. My D applied ED, so we'll be nail biting for a few weeks. She has high hopes for acceptance, but we are trying to interest her in some other schools in case she doesn't get accepted. So far, she's "tunnel-visioned" on VU.

Good luck to your daughter. My daughter felt the same way, although she had finally decided in October that she could live with Rhodes as an alternative school. Both kids love Vandy and the overall experience has been great. ED is a big plus now that overall acceptance is down to 35%.

goodwillhunting,

I am in a similar situation as your daughter. I applied early decision, and I am nail biting until December. I live in South Carolina, so I'm expecting to hear on December 20th.

Good luck to you, shopgirl. Hope you are accepted. What other schools are you applying to, in the event you are not in at Vandy? Our D is considering Wake Forest, Bucknell, Layfayette, NYU, SMU, and University of Texas.

I have applied to in addition to Vanderbilt, The University of Georgia, College of Charleston, Tulane, Villanova, Boston College, and I'm applying to George Washington, The University of Richmond, Wake Forest, and Emory.
