I know online it says a decision is guaranteed by April, but I applied on 1/16/2012, a couple weeks before their Feb 1st deadline. It' rolling admissions, so when do you think my decision will be released?

End of March. It’s not really rolling at all and if it was, you applied at the end of the process so you’d be last anyway.

I called the admissions officer last week and they said that the January batch would be notified the end of February to the beginning of March.

BTW, I hope you know that the later you apply, the harder the requirements become… If you don’t mind me asking, what was your SAT/GPA?

ACT 30 GPA 3.88 unweighted (probably higher now because I’ve been pulling almost all A’s in a combo of honors/AP classes this year)

o_O I applied 2 days after you and already know my results (Deferred ).

What’s your source for that info? Back in the rolling admissions days that was somewhat true; these days admissions vehemently denies that there is an advantage to earlier submission.

aww:/ how did you find out??

As far as I know, UMich operates on a revised rolling basis in that everyone is viewed at the same time and decisions are distributed in random batches.
Crosbyroth, I found out via email. I don’t know what this means (because I was given a response so early) but I am kind of glad that my deferral was so early. I’m trying to be very proactive and provide plenty of information for U-M to review.
Here were my stats, just in case you’re curious:
Applied LS&A. Gpa UW/W: 3.93/4.8. Rank: 14/475. SAT: 1880 in one sitting, 2030 superscored (Probably what ‘sunk me’.) EC: Loads of leadership positions in music and academic pursuits. Oh and I’m an OOS legacy.

your credentials look pretty good haha, i’m really starting to doubt my chances now…

Thanks, as do yours. Your GPA is on-par with mine, but your ACT scores are much more UMich compatible. Are you in or out-of-state? I am sending in new letters of rec, I took the ACT yesterday (I was taking it for U-M anyways XD), and I got straight A’s for the first semester of senior year! I really want to be a wolverine. I wish you luck as well!

I’m OOS, and i’m sure you’ll get in!! good luck to you too!

Haha, we’ll see. I hope you get that “congratulations!” soon! I don’t really understand UMich’s method to the madness in terms of what order they go through applications. But I’m sure you’ll find out soon.
