When should I start applying to colleges right now I’m looking at Central Michigan University. I’m currently a senior. My gpa is 2.82 which I know is low and ACT score 21 should I start applying now or wait until I get my GPA a little more up? also not sure if this means anything CMU is out of state for me so just not sure what I need to do
Your scores means you probably will get 0 aid. Stay in state.
my goal was to go out of state that’s why central Michigan caught my eye because their presidents award is granted to non Michigan residents with a 2.75 or higher which will grant me in state tuition @WiliyamMSL
Check the web sites of the colleges. Some open their application times now (and are rolling so they decide quickly rather than waiting until March).
@matthewR98 If you get in state tuition, then go for it. Central Michigan is easily my favorite Michigan school. I’d say to try to get a higher ACT, then apply if that’s possible. You’d have a nice shot then.
If their App is open then do it now. CMU is a nice school. We visited it last fall and I thought the campus was nice but the town is very small. They seem to support the school all through the community. Schools like CMU do have some lower requirements to get scholarships for OOS students and if you qualify then the cost certainly is attractive even if OOS. I thought they also have a minimum for the ACT score as well not just GPA so may want to double check on both of that for the Presidents award for OOS. They may have a cut off date to get the award if you qualify so make sure you know what the deadlines are.
