How is asking Plattsburgh whether they like Columbia “feeding” the hatred?

Yes, it is. It’s also irritating. You’re not interested, you’re checking up. At least have the guts to be upfront about it. All you’re doing is insulting everyone’s intelligence.

Not stalking, wanted to see what issues you had with Fordham. And as others have pointed out, when you come to this thread, you often just say negative things. So I was curious to see if it was true. And then I saw that you transferred in may of this year. And had so many wonderful things to say about columbia, i wondered what your experience there was.

Not southerbbq, btw. LIke I said, my D is at Fordham, and liberal arts major. One of her professors went to columbia and D loves her. She was considering taking a class there in medieivl history and wondered how it was during the summer. If you share that columbia is awesome, so your experiences there could be useful to others.

If you don’t want to share, that’s just fine. I totally understand. I really really do.

I hope you find what you need at Columbia.

Considering all the less than kind things you’ve said about me, I can’t say that I’m jumping to help you. Do your own research. Clearly you’re very good at it.

That is what I thought. I would just think you would be glad to share your experiences at Columbia in more specifics. To bad.

No. I don’t want to help you. Foolish you would think I would want to after you’ve very politely called me immature, insisted I “bash” Fordham by posting my opinions, and a slew of other names.

Very foolish of you.

Plattsburgh, I can understand why you don’t want to “help,” ilovetoquilt, but do you mind if I PM you? My sister is genuinely interested in the school. I’d ask her to make an account on CC but um…yeah, that would be weird using the same site as she does.

^^ No problem, drop me a line. :)

Thanks! Do you know anyone who went to or goes to NYU and Cooper Union that I can bug too? She’s also looking at both schools.
I don’t know why she wants to go to Cooper Union though. isn’t that a math/science school?

That would be a good thing. I am sure platsburgh has lots of experience with Columbia and moving the discussion from here would be smart. Maybe plattsbuirgh will post some of her expereinces on the Columbia thread as well!!!

I know one person who I’ve PMed a few times who’s at NYU. I’ll PM you his/her username, I’m sure s/he’ll talk to you if asked.
I don’t know anyone at Cooper though. You might want to try the subforum.

Thanks Platts. This is a lot of help.

ilovetoquilt22, please quit acting so childish.

No problem. I just sent you the info and also asked the person from NYU if it’s okay that I give your username to him/her. I just wanted to check that it’s okay beforehand.

Try posting on the subforums for more info. I’m sometimes in the NYU one and usually in the Columbia one.

You’re in the NYU section and don’t attend NYU? Blasphemy.
I hope you only post happy comments there.

My sister was also considering Fordham cause all she talks about (lit.er.ally) is being in NYC. I think I’ll talk her out of it after being in here.

Don’t talk her out of it, she might like it. Luckily, ilovetoquilt22 is not a representation of Fordham. Just an overzealous parent with multiple accounts.

One of my favorite professor is still at Fordham. I’m going to miss him, he was really awesome.

There you go, bashing Fordham again.

Haha, my bad. Feel free to bash me back. Two wrongs clearly make a right.

sorry to keep bugging you (your inbox is full by the way after I got your last two messages). Thanks for the info on Columbia and NYU, do you know any other NYC schools? I looked online but there’s like a bunch CUNY schools and I don’t know what those are. I thought they were community colleges or something and she doesn’t want those.

NYC as in all the boroughs of NYC, or in NYC as in Manhattan? Just asking because a lot of people mean Manhattan when they say NYC, I could get a better idea if you specified.

But to answer your last question – and I just emptied my inbox – , I actually don’t know that much about CUNY. I think some are four-year and some are two-year? I really don’t know. I’ve heard CUNY Baruch is supposed to be good.

You also need to tell me what she plans to major in. If it’s engineering, then the only engineering schools I know of around here are Columbia, Cooper Union (?) and NYU Poly. NYU Poly is new and seems kind of trade school to me and ITT Tech-ish. I wouldn’t suggest going there until they improved. There might be more, those are just what I know of.

I would suggest either Columbia or Cooper Union. I have a friend at NYU Poly and he flipping hates it there.
If she’s not doing engineering, then ex out Cooper Union and NYU Poly, and then there’s Columbia, NYU, Fordham, the CUNYs, Sarah Lawrence is near—ish to NYC (great school, by the way.) and um…I don’t know, there’s a lot. Try using Petersons.com

Thanks!!! You’ve been a huge help.
What do you know about Sarah Lawrence? I just went to the Sarah Lawrence College section of CC and it’s bone dry in there. Have you been there or know anybody who goes?

I don’t know what she plans to major in. She told me once but, to be honest, I wasn’t really listening. Something artsy-fartsy.

Would CUNYs beconsider a safety? Her GPA is a 4.2, could she get into Columbia or Sarah Lawrence with that? or even Fordham? What would you rank each in regards to her GPA? She also got a 33 on the ACT.

Do you think I could get into Columbia? I’d like to go either there, Brown (of course!!!) or Yale. If she goes to Columbia, I might follow her there. If she goes to one of the other schools, I’m sticking with my original choices.
or Princeton.

Eh, I’m not really an expert on colleges. I can give my guesses but they may be way off.

I think she could get into both schools with that GPA and ACT score, personally.

If she’s into the art scene, then she’d fit in well at both, though should also consider NYU.

I don’t actually know that much about Sarah Lawrence. I visited the campus a few times, it’s actually really nice. It kind of has this “old world” feel to it. Other than that, I’m of no help.
