It's a pre-req for a lot of concentrations, including Ross. Wondering if HS daughter should take it this winter term, dual enrolled and then transfer it in? Do many students transfer it in? I believe AP Stats is same but AP stats was full year course. There aren't any pre-reqs listed in the course description so I wasn't sure if it is best to take after or during university level Calc I or perhaps Calc II?

I don’t think it really matters whether you’ve had calculus before you take Stats 250. I know people who have taken it after Calc I, and I know people who have taken it without ever taking calc. The success rate hasn’t been noticeably different, anecdotally speaking. Caveat here: I’m taking it next semester, so I can’t speak from my own knowledge.

it doesn’t matter what order you take those courses in. stats 250 is particularly easy. many students will use it to satisfy quantitative reasoning requirements in LSA instead of taking calc.

does it really matter? that class is so easy

Stat 250 is a pre-req for Ross? What?..

I’m with everyone else. I don’t think it’s particularly necessary. It’s a pretty easy course, even for people who hate/are terrible at math, like me. (My experience: I have never taken calc. I only took up to precalc in high school and was placed into precalc here…oops…but I took stats first semester freshman year and I still ended up with a B+, I think.)

I was mistaken, must have confused another b-school’s pre-reqs for a Ross pre-req. Now I can’t recall if I’ve even seen it on the Ross BBA page?

Perhaps that is where I saw it. So freshman will opt to take Stats 250 over Math 115?

yes, many students who are not good at math take stats 250 instead of math 115.
