I applied RD on Dec 15, status is still :“All Required Documents Have Been Received”
In the past few years some RD decisions have released starting in mid-February with the bulk of decisions coming out on the same day in mid-March. The initial decisions have been for top applicants: Scholars and Honors.
Thanks, does anyone else still have the “All Required Documents have been received” status?
I mean I heard back a few days ago and I was accepted but without honors or scholars anything, so idk if it’s really an indication of top applicants
@slights32 In your posting history you say you received a $30,000/year scholarship. That tells me that you are a top applicant, although maybe not topmost.
@TomSrOfBoston I got it for being a National Hispanic Recognition Scholar, which really only says that I got a 185+ on the PSAT and am at least a quarter hispanic (I’m half).
Per Northeastern’s webpage: http://www.northeastern.edu/financialaid/grants-scholarships/undergraduate.html
So yeah because I didn’t get that I obviously wasn’t in the top 25%. I do think it’s interesting though that their college board scholarships are for 30k a year as those are a lot easier to get than say being in the top 25% of admitted freshmen applicants. Don’t get me wrong, I’m ecstatic that I got 30k, but like really it doesn’t say much about how competitive I was.
I got accepted and admitted to the honors program and it says to click on the documents to the left, one of which says “scholarship.” But all I get is an error message.
Is it possible that I could hear back early too if my midterm grades weren’t in by the 10th but they are in now? Or is it all in one wave?
If you haven’t heard already, you’re probably going to have to wait for the regular decision release date. These decisions were probably made w/o midterm grades unless you had them there in mid-January. Again, the current round of acceptances were mostly for scholarship and honors students (top of the pool applicants).
@justinn76 I checked your earlier threads and your stats are solidly in the mix for NEU but below those of honors and scholarship students. I’d say you have a pretty good chance of getting in, but you’ll probably have to wait until the bulk release date for RD. FYI, my son got in EA with very similar stats to yours.
but does northeastern only release early RD admits in one wave? I thought i would qualify. Do they focus mostly on national merit finalists?
Not sure, but it seems a subset of applicants most of whom qualify for good scholarships and honors, got decisions last week and the rest will come later. Older posts and some folks who have been around awhile have corroborated this. However, just b/c you didn’t hear in that wave doesn’t mean you will not ultimately get any scholarship money.
I didn’t get into honors or any scholarships and I got in last week!!
What are typical requirements? Is a 2190 SAT in the game?
@DODIAT The requirements for honors? A 2190 is definitely in the game. I got a 2100 and was accepted on Tuesday with a scholarship + honors.
My son was accepted with $30k scholarship but was not Invited into honors. 2210 SAT (650 math, 750 cr) 93.5 weighted GPA, don’t know unweighted, but the GPA Is only thing I can think of which kept him out of honors. We’re very pleased with scholarship but he is a b bIt disappointed about honors. Don’t know if it’s a deal breaker yet; still waiting on other schools and have some choices to weigh.
My Daughter was accepted EA to CCIS but with no scholarships and obviously no honors. 2140 SAT, 760 Math II, 690 Bio, 4.0/95 UW GPA, 4.7 WGPA, 3-year varsity volleyball captain, decent CS ECs.
Pretty sure that merit aid and honors acceptance is per school, so the “requirements” may be fairly different depending on which school you are applying to.
@JoeGoe congrats on getting Honors, but I think a 2100 is probably the exception to the rule and I would not think that a 2190 is a shoe-in either.
@JoeGoe Congrats! Did you guys find out by email, mail, or application status check?
@alleycat2 I found out on the 11th via an email with a link to the application status check.
