I’m an applicant to Newhouse and one of the most frequently heard sentences on college visits is “You can’t even start classes for Communications at Syracuse until Junior Year”. I know not to base things off word of mouth, but is this true?
Not accurate …DD is at Newhouse and had her intro COM classes her first and second semester freshman year. It is true you will be taking most of you major classes in your junior and senior years, but you will be able to take Newhouse classes each semester if you plan properly. My daughter loves SU. Good luck to you.
my first semester in syracuse, i took 2 newhouse classes, the second semester i took 1 newhouse class. next semester, i will start my major as a sophomore. if you get accepted to newhouse, you will take classes in the school each semester, just the majority of them are taken junior/senior years
What have your Newhouse classes been so far? @lsweisberg
@kmd549 ive taken all the introduction classes- com107, the first class which goes through all of the areas of communication (film, pr, ad etc) as well as the history of media. I also took a grammar class (com101) and a class called multimedia storytelling (com117) where you make movies and learn how to be a visual storyteller
