I took the ACTs in April and they say that they come back tomorrow, do most scores come on the first day ??

New scores are up this morning. We're celebrating in our household.

Celebrating here too. My son did NO prep (and I mean didn't crack a book). SAT was 1960 (710 CR, 600 math, 650 writing) and 31 on ACT.

His gpa is about 3.15 - any reason to study and retest?

In my opinion, reading on both SAT and ACT is the hardest and cannot really be practiced. Math and grammar, and especially grammar, only take cursory review before substantial gains in score are seen. With some practice, your son could easily raise his score 200-300 points by raising math and writing alone. Same goes for ACT.

I hope your son isn't a junior because he's going to have to raise that GPA or he'll be in for a rude awakening.

There are hundreds of good colleges who would love to accept a student with a 31 ACT and a 3.15 GPA.

I agree with midwestmom2kids - there are lots of places for your student to go to college. I know of one in particular that will accept any student with a 29+ ACT, no matter the gpa.

well keep in mind that 09 is the largest graduating class... In history...

I'm very disappointed in his gpa, but am being realistic in his chances. We're not looking at top schools, but schools where an average gpa is 3.4 and average ACT27. I gave up sweating the grades when I realized he's "Mr. Good Enough" - I'm hoping he matures and gets excited by college in ways he hasn't yet.

And Gadsdenite, what school IS that?
