My son has already accepted an admissions offer, but he is still getting several emails a day from various institutions with messages like, "It's not to late to apply!" or "We are holding a spot for you!"

I know that they do not know now that it's over as far as my son is concerned, but does it all magically go poof after May 1st?

Earlier this academic year he was regularly getting phone calls, which did not stop even after he told them he was not interested in applying to their particular college.

We're on various do not call lists, but I know that they can be circumvented if you have a so-called existing "business relationship" with the institution in question. I guess having taken the PSAT and SAT constitutes a business relationship. So shame on the College Board.

It's already started for my daughter who is only a sophomore, email, snail mail, although no phone calls--yet. Is there a way to tell the College Board we're not interested in the spam and junk?

I know these are desperate times for many colleges in this economy. Most, although not all, of the contact is from pricey private schools.
