When do the new admissions numbers come out?

We've been hearing all sorts of things about how the economy is affecting college admissions. I believe I read that applications are up 50% at SUNY Binghamton. But of course the important thing to know are the ACT, SAT, GPA, and acceptance rate stats. And it seems like the numbers we discuss and work with are often way behind. I'm pretty sure I've read that in some cases we're still using 2007 numbers. Maybe even USNAWR hasn't started using 2008 numbers yet.

It appears that for the class of 2010, more than ever, this could be a problem because the numbers could change a lot in one year. State universities should be a lot harder to get into, but how much harder? And if they are harder to get into then it must be easier to get into some of the privates. Probably lots of possible threads here.

It would also be good if state u’s would publish seperate numbers for instate and out of state.

Applications are up nearly 12 percent at Alfred State College, 11 percent at Binghamton University, more than 8 percent at Buffalo State College, 7 percent at the University at Buffalo and as much as 5 percent at Geneseo and Fredonia state colleges. There are nearly 12 applicants for every available 2009-10 slot at Geneseo State College, and the average SAT score of admitted freshmen is 1352 out of a possible 1600.

Please provide link – in any event how much is driven by more applications per student?

When the stats on increase in ED to Binghamton came out, I suspect students increased the number of applications they threw in at other sunys.

^^No link available. As I said “I believe I read…”

These are all good questions. It will be interesting when the numbers come out to sort through all this.
