Do they email us or send us a letter through the post??

Is it exactly on Dec 15th that we find out?

Is it exactly on Dec 15th that we find out?

most likely you'll get an email around the 10th/11th/12th of December, the actual letter will arrive around the 15th

Yeah I think you get an electronic notification on the 12th abouts, then the paperwork ships in on the 15th.

S got the paperwork th morning after the ED (on the 12th, I believe).

Edit: though we live in north Jersey, so tht may be why we got it so quickly.

oh ok.. so they send you an email saying u are accepted/deferred or rejected right?
around the 12th or so..

I live in Singapore so does that mean the notification via post will reach me later?

what do you think is the most important thing in the application??...
is it HS grades? ..
for those who are already there.. did you have a feeling that you were going to get in? did you know?

confidence fluctuated greatly i think; when i first applied i was pretty confident but then it kinda hit a doldrum.

soulofheaven, are you at columbia right now?...
it says you're only 17?!

lol don't worry, I'll be 18 in three days.

another question!!!
does a fat envelope = accepted or deferred
and a skinny envelope = rejection???

Ahhhhh! I'm so scareeed! I wanna know nowwww

Soul. what did you do to celebrate when you got accepted last year :)

yup, the fat/small evenlope thing certainly applies to columbia

April 1st last year was quite a day. Got my Columbia package and then spent the next 6 hours checking out results from other schools online, pressed "refresh" until my arm fell off.

happy birthday, soul!

hopefully I will be getting a fat envelope on the 10th!!!!

Happy Birthday Soul!!! :-d

alright, so I will get my envelope exactly on Dec 15th? What's inside the Columbia package?

Ah.. I really want that FAT envelopeeee!!!!!

How come the other schools didn't send you packages too?

happy birthday soul

wow..how were ur stats when u were accepted?

how do we know it's soul's birthday??

Well happy birthday anyway!!! :d :)

Soul, was there any indication that you going to be accepted to Columbia before you got "officially" notified???

lol, today is indeed my birthday. thanks to all of you

now to the questions:
-Stats at time of acceptance:
SAT I: 1580 (800V/780M)
SAT IIs: 740 average
Rank: 6/395
GPA: 4.9 weighted
APs: 5,5,5,5,4,4,3

Accepted:
Columbia
Brown
Cornell
NYU
Vassar
SUNY Binghamton

Rejected: Yale

-I happen to live about 30 minutes from Columbia, so the Columbia FedEx actually arrived before the email notification. Obviously for the other schools I had to wait because I don't live as close to them.

-Columbia really didn't give any hints at all. As compared to NYU (Sunday at the Square, National Merit letter, etc), Columbia's is top secret.
