When do transfer acceptance letters first start coming out?

I am aware that every applicant is notified by June 1st. My question is how soon will people start finding out if they got in. Early March/April?

Transfer applicants will receive either a decision or a request for spring grades (SGR) by June 1st. The first decisions typically arrive very near June 1st. Those who receive spring grade requests hear back between mid-June and mid-July.

More transfer info here: <a href=“Official USC 2014 Transfer Thread - Transfer Students - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/1520682-official-usc-2014-transfer-thread-p1.html</a></p>

Are you sure this information is correct? It takes 5 months to send out transfer acceptance? That seems way longer than most colleges. Most colleges expect an answer regarding enrollment by May at the latest. I’m confused

All I can pass on are the observations I have made over the last several years on this forum and in the USC transfer thread. I encourage you to ask on the transfer thread linked above - many former transfer applicants check in and they will be able to pass on their experiences and observations. Please also consult USC’s official Transferring to USC brochure http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/private/1314/TransferringToUSC_2014.pdf</a> for the official notification date:

Actually, four months (Feb, Mar, April, May - the decisions/SGRs are sent June 1st-ish, so you only count from now until the end of May). But yes, in general your time frame is correct. Between freshman and transfer applicants USC will receive around 60,000 applications this year. It will take some time.

Yes, it is  Try not to be too stressed.

This becomes an issue particularly for our California applicants who are also applying to the UC system where the commitment deposits are DUE June 1st. The strategy I have seen many employ is to wait until the very last moment to see if they get their answer from USC just before the 1st OR to make a commitment deposit to a school to which they have been accepted while they wait for an answer from USC. If accepted by USC they withdraw their intent to attend and forfeit the deposit.

Note: Please don’t blame the messenger - I don’t make the rules/policies, I just pass on the info   :)

Good luck!

Thank you for the info I appreciate it!

I was told to hear it in march

I applied as a Music Industry major, so my application was due December 1st. Should I also expect to not hear back until June 1st? That would be 7 months of waiting… Crazy!

matthiasstoopman, in looking at your other posts it appears that you may be a freshman applicant (you mention applying by December 1st for merit, which is a freshman deadline). This thread was asking about the timetable for transfer decisions :)

As you say, freshmen decisions will be mailed March 26th and available online March 29th. As an international applicant I would anticipate that your online decision will be available before your mail arrives.
