I am currently a high school junior. I will be 16 during my graduation so my mom is really encouraging me to stay in-state until I turn 18. So I plan to attend an in-state university and transfer out of state for 2 years. My question is when do universities stop considering high school grades. Thanks!
Depends on what university you transfer to. For top tier universities and Ivies, they stop looking around junior transfers. Some universities may not consider high school grades at all and solely college work (like the college I’m transferring to, UGA).
As a general rule though, after 2 years they start considering college work more. That isn’t to say, though, that they won’t still ask for high school transcripts and test scores.
Each university may have a different policy, but the general theme is that if you have enough college work that you can apply as a junior level transfer, high school stuff becomes less important or unimportant for transfer admission purposes.
They always look. If you have a poor record in high school, apply to transfer sophomore year (to enter as a junior) and it will be much less impactful.
