alright, here's the deal: this is what a user on the regular syracuse forum posted and their advice also worked for me.

"possible solution
in the url try replacing /tcwis03.syr.edu:880/ with /cwis03.syr.edu/"

Unfortunately, I didn't get in for mt and was only waitlisted for my second choice, the college of arts and sciences... but that's ok. A little- ok, a lot- surprised about the waitlisted thing, but the mt thing is absolutely no shocker. It was my first audition and my dance portion was exceptionally terrible. Oh well, c'est la vie. Still have 7 or so to hear from. Good luck to the rest of you, I hope the above works! :)

Thanks, that worked for me too. And I didn't get in either, oh well. I'm waitlisted for Newhouse. I'm really suprised at that too, but maybe it's because it was our 2nd and 3rd choices or whatever.
Oh well, at least now we know.

Cindy, getting on the waiting list of Newhouse is a very high compliment (says I a Newhouse grad, a very long time ago). As you know, Newhouse is presently the creme de la creme at SU.

You obviously need to assess whether you want MT or have more varied interests -- enough interests that prompted you to apply to Newhouse to begin with. And in this day and age, where news has become entertainment, the two interests have more in common than they would have had a decade or two ago. We know a VERY talented girl who did not get into any of her MT programs who is now pursuing communications at Penn State.

no syracuse for me either... :( i really liked that school. but.. supposedly i got into Tisch at NYU and i think i would have gone there over Syracuse anyway so im allright!

Sorry to all of you waiting and hoping for Syracuse, if you try you can tell yourself numerous reasons it probably is for the best. Look forward and also take nytheatermom's advice and look inward...is it possible to do something else and still satisfy your performance bug? My D didn't get into PSU for MT, and chose communications as a possible major. She is trying out for the lionettes dance team (3 hrs a nite practice with games and national competition) and can still minor in theatre or dance there. In other word she made a rejection seem like a viable option...for her.
It really is possible to make lemonade out of lemons if you are open to the idea. Chins up and good luck with your remainders!

that URL thing doesn't work for me. If we all typed that same url into the URL aren't you just going to the same website, so that is not necessarily yours...right? I'm so confused but it didn't work for me....

My friend's daughter just found out she was waitlisted for Syracuse MT. Does anyone have an idea of the chances of being accepted from the waitlist. Also, should she get in touch with them and let them know it's her first choice?

Our college counselor says everytime you are waitlisted you should contact them and express a thank you for the opportunity to have auditioned for them and that you are most definitely interested...so I would say that is a yes....the counselor says it doesn't hurt to do this by mail and by phone

My daughter got her acceptance email on March 19 and the acceptance packet by mail on March 21. Decisions are coming out in waves and the timing is not indicative of the results.

Just got an answer to my email to SU. They have no idea what the odds are of being accepted off the waitlist. They also told me that they do not give scholarship to people off the waitlist. So I guess that's one less decision for us to have to make. I had thought that when you get accepted off a waitlist you could receive the merit/talent money that would have gone to that student. I guess SU doesn't do it that way.
