When do we find out?

For those of you who submitted your apps already, or those who know the answer, how long until we're notified?

They say 6-8 weeks for an initial review. Then again, Colorado-Boulder said the exact same thing and I just got admitted after submitting my application just 2 weeks ago, so who knows.

Heh, I submitted my application back in January 2005, got accepted to the University in June 2005, and to the Engineering department July 13 2005. All of these are for Fall 2005 admissions. Go figure. But maybe it's not as bad as that for freshman applications. I don't know.

Btw, didnt you need at least 90 or so credit hour before u can actually apply to the engineering departmen? i read that if u get accepted into the university, the major is pre-engineering.

If you apply as a freshman, and declare that your major is Engineering, then you will be a pre-engineering student. After you completed all of the prerequisites for a specific department, you can then apply. If admitted, you will then be a student of that department and your statur will change from pre-engineering to whatever engineering you're admitted to. The 90 credits requirement is just for a Junior standing, which just happens to coincide with the time most people have finished thei prerequisite requirement. However, in theory, you need not necessarily have 90 credits to apply for an Engineering department, as long as you're finished with all of the prerequisites.

Wait...reading the site, it looks like they admit a certain percentage of each engineering class from freshman applicants. I know for computer engineering it said they'll take up to 20% of the "incoming" computer engineering majors right from the freshman class if they are deemed as qualified...so then your major would just be whatever you declared right?

Are you talking about early admissions? If I remember correctly, you will still need to have taken at the very least 15 quarter credits at the UW before being able to apply for early admissions. I'm not sure about the early admissions rule myself. I was transfering from another college.

Maybe that offer is exclusive to the Computer Science department? It is certainly not the case in my department though (AA).

asbereth, I'm talking about "Direct Admission:"

<a href="http://www.cs.washington.edu/education/ugrad/forms/programapply.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.cs.washington.edu/education/ugrad/forms/programapply.html</a></p>

Direct Admission (Autumn Quarter only)

The UW Department of Computer Science & Engineering enrolls up to 20% of its incoming class directly out of high school. Freshmen applicants to the University of Washington listing Computer Science or Computer Engineering as their intended major, and who are Washington State residents, will be automatically considered. Competitive applicants will have taken or be taking calculus. Physics is the preferred high school laboratory science course.

They make it sound like you'd start taking engineering courses your first year, and would be a "Computer Engineering" or "Computer Science" major right off the bat...not sure though.

well my status changed today.. so i guess they already started looking at the applications .. blah i wanna know if i got in ahha
