When do we fine out about financial aid?

Pitt is one of my top choices but I definitely want to see my financial aid summary.

I got a letter in the mail today and they said financial aid would be given by early April.

I called financial aid on Friday and the staff said to me that I only qualified for a loan. She was patient and nice and told me to call the admissions office for merit information. I have a 1670 SAT and 31ACT. Admissions staff told me that I did not qualify for merit even though I have higher scores. You also have to be top 5 percent of your class. There is no legacies either. The person at admissions office was very rude and not helpful to me. She repeated the same line about applying on time and getting things in. We had Sandy and our term was pushed off by two days. so my mid year grades went On 7th jan. Looks like you have to be #1 in your class or low income/poor for Money. If you have parents who work and take care of you then forget it. I am so frustrated and have given up on Pitt. Why bother when they don’t care.

I still haven’t recieved any aid and I’m planning on going to upitt. I missed the deadline for aid which was jan 15 so is there any way of receiving aid or o you think I have to pay full tuition?

I don’t think the post about how only the top 5% get scholarships is true. I have a 3.6 gpa 50/220 in my graduating class which isn’t even top 20% and I received a $10000 scholarship

The financial aid letter arrived today so they are sending them out.

Thanks Pittbound - I am happy for you. I live OOS. Also, my mom called admissions and the Dean’s assistant said the same thing about 5% and 1450 SAT.

Every year there are students with high stats who don’t receive a scholarship offer and every year there are students with lower stats who receive a scholarship offer. If a student has a “hook” that Pitt wants, the “rules” won’t apply.
