When Do We Get Early Admission Notifications?

I applied and sent in all my materials to MSU the second week of September. It's been over a month and I've got no notification in the mail whatsoever. I'm aware that MSU is based on rolling admissions but they don't offer early notification? My credentials are somewhat decent but not extravagant, so it's likely I might be wait listed. But I should have a better chance because I'm instate. One of my classmates said she got acceptance from MSU, with a 31 ACT, although she lacks extracurriculars and GPA is much lower. So, how come I haven't gotten rejection, defered, wait-listed, or acceptance letter yet?

Here are my credentials
150 ish out of 600 or top 25%ish
3.6 GPA
23 ACT 69 percentile out of nation
I took a rigorous curriculum:Honors Physics, Honors Chemistry, AP Microeconomics, Honors English, 4 years of math.
Lowest letter grade was a B-.
Key Club, BPA, Earth Club, Writing Club, 100 hours of community service, Mentoring for 2 organizations.
Various awards and letters.

The early notification guarantees a decision by November 16th. However, only a few people are selected to be a part of it according to the letter I got. You have to have received a letter (I got one a month or so ago) that tells you to apply before October 12th to be considered for early response, or you won’t be a part of it I think.

I don’t think you would have received that letter with a 23 ACT (no offense or anything, but I think they base it off ACT scores).

Anyways, be patient, I think you’ll hear back soon. I applied like on September 23th and got my stuff mailed on the 25th and they made my decision yesterday (its coming by mail according to the site)…it could take a little longer because you’re borderline, but I think you’ll hear back soon. Good luck!

There is no such thing as early notification at MSU. It is rolling admissions but they don’t start processing until the middle of September. Be patient. You have a decent shot and a better one since you applied very early.

Yeah there were early notifications. The letter said a decision would be made by 2nd week of November or something. One thing for sure is that MSU is super fast with applications. I applied on October 4th and heard today on the 16th. Just make sure you have all of your materials in and the decision will come soon enough.

Best of luck to everyone!

Yep, I got my decision like 10 days later. It was nice. And yeah, there is an early notification program, but only for selected students.

Well, I sent in my app to MSU on Oct. 5 and I found out I got accepted today!

Out-of-state.

^ Congrats. Maybe we’ll see you here next year :)

^ Thanks! It’s a definite possibility.
