If we got the cal grant (a, b, or c), when do we receive the actual money?

The day before the first day of classes. The grant is broken up into 3 parts and dispersed the day before the beginning of each quarter in Fall, Winter, and Spring.

Just to clear up any confusion, you won't physically be receiving the money. It will automatically be used to pay for your total student fees.

Yeah I screwed up. The previous post I made was how UCSD Grant in aid is dispersed. Sorry for the confusion.

what if you got cal grant b, because it says it can only be used for school supplies or something. if i wanted to buy a laptop with that would it be possible?

Yes it is possible because in truth, it doesn't matter. The money you're using to buy a laptop is just displacing the money you would have used to pay your tuition (which Cal-Grant is covering). They only HOPE that you don't squander away your money so that their aid doesn't go in vain. To sum it up, it is impossible for them to know what you spend your money on.

buy a laptop at the student store and charge it to your account.

i see. well i was mainly wondering if i get an actual check for the money or if the money gets put into my student account like the ucsd grants. the laptop i want isn't at the student store.
