When do we get our financial aid money?

When do we get our financial aid money?

Anytime between now and the 12th class day.

12TH class day? Is there a way to talk with our apartments and tell them we are waiting for that money? B/C my money is due the 20th and I was planning on using financial aid for that partly…

That’s the information I’ve been told. My financial aid only covers some of my tuition, so I’m not worried about getting any in actual deposit form for use elsewhere. Maybe there are differences, depending on your source (scholarship, grant, loan, etc). All of my aid is a scholarship from UT which I did not submit a separate/special application for, maybe that type takes longer than a loan.

You can see if funds have been disbursed yet or not by going to your What I Owe page > Where’s My Check?(left side bar) > Financial Summary(left side bar).

Ok what about if all of our financial aid has been disbursed according to the websites in which we received our loans? Like for me, Wells Fargo and another lender have already disbursed funds to UT. Under my "what I owe’’ page, I owe nothing because UT used my pell grant and my stafford loans to pay my tuition bill. When I clicked on “Wheres my check?” I have 1,970 that will be deposited in my bank account, but what about the rest of my financial aid? I still have other loans and grants that have been disbursed, but don’t show up in “wheres my check”.

Does anyone know when I can expect a check? I’m still expecting $4000. I really need this money ASAP to pay for off campus housing and textbooks.

Also, is it possible that UT could be sending more than 1 check? Because the check amount they are sending is no where near what I am supposed to be receiving.

Just guessing - Could they be planning to disperse half in the fall and half in the spring? Would that explain some of it?

That is how a lot of it works.

Go here: <a href=“Sign in with your UT EID - Stale Request”>Sign in with your UT EID - Stale Request;

And see if you were actually supposed to receive all of that money this semester.

I got an e-mail today saying that my refund will be deposited into my bank account on 8/21/09. They already subtracted my tuition payment.

Yes I am supposed to be receiving all that money this semester. I don’t know if they are planning on sending different checks or what though.

TMT90, I am in the same situation as you. According to the website that I was provided by the loan sharks ;), the money should have been dispursed on the 18th. So far UT hasn’t received anything. I am hoping that it gets there by the payment deadline…

Lol loan sharks?? Well my lenders are totally credible, I mean its the government of Texas who is my lender LOL. So yeah i’m waiting for it to disburse quick!! Good luck ampzor

Hey guys i have a question…Do I need to set up an EFT account (bank info) before I can get any funds or checks from UT?? I checked my financial summary and some of my fall aids have been disbursed (8k out of 10k). However, when i checked Where’s My Check, it shows up that i have no pending checks coming my way. I’m just a little bit confused about the payment process.

basically…do i need to provide my bank info before any of my financial aid is released and paid toward tuition + housing??

thanks guys

I would think so… otherwise they won’t have anywhere to deposite the money. And I don’t think they are going to want to write a big check only for it to get “lost” in the mail.

Actually, I called UTs Fin Aid and they told me that they either send you a cheque or put the $$$ in the bank (if correct info. is provided) so check you home address and make sure it is correct with what UT has on record.

i received my money on my EFT bank account(BOA) yesterday. and notification email too.

“basically…do i need to provide my bank info before any of my financial aid is released and paid toward tuition + housing??”

You need to. They will send a check to your permanent address if you don’t but then that’s inconvenient since you are most likely not going to be home to receive it. xD Also, if you pay tuition from your bank account it makes things 50 times easier later on. You can choose to just withdraw it from your account.

does anyone know when the top 10 % scholarship will be released? With that money i’d have about 3 grand in my pocket and i could basically pay off the one loan i took out…

Ok so apparently they do send out multiple checks. I have another check coming in for an academic grant I received. But that still leaves me short of my off campus dorm payment. My other loan (the crucial one) doesn’t disburse till mid September, which is way too late for me. Luckily i’m able to borrow money from my boyfriend, and I will just pay him back when that money finally does disburse. I’m hoping that it disburses earlier of course.

Usually, UT gives out a cheque once all the tution has been paid. I received mines yesterday so if you haven’t received it check your mailing address!
