When Do We Hear Back About the Honors Program?

I just got my congratulations e-mail from American- yay! I’m wondering about the honors program, though; if I’m being offered a spot, will I get that with my mailed letter, or must I enroll before finding out if I’m in the program? The website says that “about 15 percent of incoming first-year students are invited to join…”, but I’m not sure what that means. It would be odd if they didn’t inform candidates of their eligibility, don’t you think?
Otherwise, would that invitation have come with the e-mail? It’s certainly possible that I just didn’t get in- I’d just like to know now if I still have a shot! Thanks.

If it wasn’t mentioned in your acceptance package (snail mail), then I don’t think you got in. But it doesn’t hurt to call admissions and ask. The acceptance package usually has all that info (including FA/scholarships)

If you aren’t accepted initially, you can self-nominate later on. That’s what I did, and it worked out well.

comes in your acceptance package :O

have people already been admitted to the honors program? or have all the admittances sent out thus far been to the university, but not the honors program?

@cloudsandsky - When I received my acceptance package last Saturday, I was also notified of my merit scholarship and my acceptance into the Global Scholars program and the Honors Program.

At my house, same thing as the horse-lover: admission, merit award and honors all in one envelope.

thanks,

congrats everyone!

We were told merit was offered to the top 15% of applicants. I guess Honors was offered to the top 5%???

Okay, thank you everyone! Iamsirjoshua, could you explain how self-nomination works? Apparently, I didn’t get in :stuck_out_tongue:
Charlieschm, I thought it said on the website that Honors was offered to the top 15% of admitted students? I’m not sure either, the wording was incredibly vague.
