Did yours have the admission decision on it to view(under correspondence)? My sons says decision was mailed April 3rd…

then it went to step five. and said communicate admissions decisions. and then a thing popped out after i clicked on it that said i was wait listed.

His is on step 4, but it started a new one for Summer 2009(under select application)…I wander how long until it will be updated.

Son got notified today of: “placed on wait list and will also be considered for the Blinn TEAM program option”. I know that it’s a very long shot on the A&M waitlist, but does this mean he’ll get in at TEAM Blinn, or just another delay and waiting period?

I am on blinn team now and heres how i feel about it.

Yes it is true you are considered an A&M student meaning you get everything a A&M student gets. Getting housing at A&M while on Blinn Team most likely will not happen, by now all dorms have filled up and if there are any open it is the Corp dorms which rise every morning around 5 to bugles.

I currently live off campus in a private student dorm, its on the bus route so some days i drive to blinn, and some days i take the bus to A&M which is great. Your first semester on blinn team you are only allowed to take 5 hours at A&M (so this is either 1 science/lab or 1 lecture and 1 kine or 1 lecture).

Unless you want to be driving to both campuses on some days, its really not practical to be taking one class at A&M. Your second semester on Blinn Team your allowed 6 hours at A&M only if you took 15 credit hours or more last semester. Right now im taking 6 hours at atm (tuesdays thursdays), 9 at blinn (mon, wed, fri).

If your looking to do Blinn TEAM for a year and then transfer in, this is very difficult. Whenever you apply to ATM as a transfer student you are applying to the separate school (engineering, business), this is more selective then as applying as a first time college student. If you plan on transferring to ATM after one year you cant slack off, you need to have a 3.0+ or above to even really be considered for transfer. If your considering transferring into business school, forget it. The business school only accepts around 70 or so outside transfers a year. If your happy with attending Blinn for 2 years and getting in guaranteed with a 3.0, then be happy and go for it!

In the end I really wish I would have just gone to Texas Tech, Blinn TEAM isnt as easy as you think. You need to make A’s. Dont think because blinn is a community college its easy, I would say most kids at blinn are not from bryan/college station. And from talking to people at blinn, most of them transfer to another school from there. What makes me mad is i personally know people who drop out or got kicked out of ATM and i feel i deserve their spot.

Bottom Line: If your looking for a great Freshman college experience, Blinn Team really just isnt for you…

If you have any questions about Blinn TEAM, please feel free to ask and i will gladly answer them.

Our daughter was admitted to Blinn TEAM last fall. She goes to both campuses most days. There are various strategies to do that; she chooses to schedule her A&M class(es) in the morning and her Blinn classes after lunch.

About half (50%) of the students who enter the Blinn TEAM program are granted full admission to Texas A&M as transfer students before they complete the Blinn TEAM program. Some are admitted for fall semester of their sophomore year but most are admitted for spring semester. That’s mostly because of the hours requirement, which means that freshmen aren’t considered until after their spring grades are reported, by which time many majors have no openings.

Blinn TEAM was a blessing for us. The daughter had decided that it was Texas A&M or bust. When she was offered Blinn TEAM, it was like she had been given the keys to the kingdom. She has worked harder than she ever worked before, trying to earn a full admit. She applied to transfer for fall '09 but the major she wants is popular so she knows she will likely have to reapply for spring. Meanwhile, she volunteered as a Fish Camp counselor and will be doing that this summer as well as going to school to make sure she is on track to earn the hours required by the Blinn TEAM program.

If Blinn TEAM doesn’t sound like a good deal to you, please don’t take it. There are people who would love the opportunity.

TAPP isnt a bad idea either. There are 10 or so CC’s participating and its also guaranteed admission after a certain amount of courses are complete. You could knock out the load in a year if you bust your @$$ and take courses over the summer and winter like I did. I know people who did the BLINN program who were able to transfer into A&M and I knew people who got distracted wit parties. Its all about how bad a person wants to transfer.

um I talked to alot of my friends who were waitlisted/blinn teamed last year and and admission consular. I always thought that with this option I would get into TAMU or do blinn-team HOWEVER-

You will either: get accepted to A&M, accepted to Blinn-team, or you can still be completly rejected.

So it sucks becasue, you might be all geared up to live in CS and go to TAMU or Blinn/team and then in June they can send you a letter saying your rejected from both.

Basically you need to decide if your ok with going to just blinn, because that is still on option. My friend said last year they only admited about 100 students to blinn-team and 200 to TAMU and the rest were rejected. This complelty sucks.

If yall want more details, just ask.

i think what i’ll end up doing is just accepting the wait list decision and see what happens. i probably won’t get in. but i don’t want to regret trying. cause it doesn’t really hurt. i just have to move on. and accept that i’m staying in new jersey.

i don’t think blinn team is for me. being out of state and all. i wanted to attend A&M not be split between two schools. that seems hectic and a waste of time.

sooooo rutgers university hear i come. unless i magically get into A&M off the wait list.

What % of waitlist / blinn team folks get accepted to TAMU? What % get into Blinn Team?

around 10%. they say around 2000 accept wait list. and they admit around 200

thx. do you know #'s offered / accepted at Team Blinn?

According to the presentation they showed at last year’s Blinn TEAM New Student Conference, they admitted about 800 to Blinn TEAM, aiming for about 500 enrolled. That is quite a bit more than previous years, I don’t know whether that was an anomaly or a trend.

Thanks wepprop.

OK…May 1st has come and gone. When do we start hearing the next round of decisions? Has anyone heard their status yet?

I did not make it in.

I got the option for Blin or waitlisted.

Funny that i got in for Fall at UT but not here (especially as an OOS applicant).

O well, I am a firm believer in things happening for a reason.

Ill be attending U Florida in the fall.

BEST OF LUCK TO ALL!

gpowsang, Sorry to hear you didn’t get in, BUT - let me tell you - you will love UF!!

My oldest son just graduated last weekend from UF and honestly, it has been the best 4 years of his life. Gainesville is a great college town with tons of cool coffee shops, restaurants and bars, a thriving downtown and college area, and wonderful athletics (can you say 4 national championships in 4 years??)!

He was reluctant to go there from Houston, worrying that it was going to be too “small town” or hickville, but he ended up loving it, he met wonderful people there, including the girl he’s going to marry Only bad thing for me is that he’s staying in Florida now - got a job in Jacksonville and moving to St. Augustine…

So, don’t be too sad about having to “settle for” UF - chances are it will work out beautifully!!

^thanks for the kind words ag!

Let be honest with you though, when I first started applying to college back in the Fall of last year, it was a close tie between UF and Texas A&M, a fight between value (UF) and a better engineering program (A&M).

I applied to UT Austin and A&M for 2 main reasons:

They had great engineering schools.

2.I could pay in-state tuition after 6 months after making my aunt and uncle that live in Texas my “guardians” (but it would still cost a little more than staying in Florida).

Yes, I am a little upset that I did not make it in, but I am more than happy that I am going to UF!..besides, the economy was not as bad now as it was when I applied…haha.

But as I said, I am a firm believer in some things happening for a reason, some things, I believe, just falling into place for me to take that path, and I am more than happy!

Thanks again and best of luck to all!

PS: And grats on ur sons graduation!! GO GATORS!

gpowsang - good luck to you too - and GO GATORS!!! :D

You must be a FL resident - y’all have Bright Futures Scholarships, so chances are it will be almost free to attend UF - so, yeah, you can’t beat the price!!

That’s why my son went there, he was a NMF and UF gave him a full ride. We called it the “Guido Offer” - one you CAN’T refuse! haha

Thanks for the grats! It was awesome going to the graduation ceremony. I cried at the end to see that enormous group of kids singing the alma mater swaying with linked arms and, of course, doing the Gator Chomp at the end! They have many cool traditions there, just as A&M and UT do (well, maybe not as many as A&M, who are tradition CRAZY!! ;)).

You will be getting a good degree there, the Gator Nation is strong!!

haven’t heard any news off the wait list yet. hope it will be soon. because if i get a decision after june. i don’t think it will be worth coming to A&M at that point.
