Hello there, CC. I'm definitely excited about becoming a Spartan this Fall semester and I did everything that MSU requires its students to do except for registering for classes. When exactly does one do that? I believe I read somewhere that one must wait to hear from his academic counselor at AOP before registering but now I'm confused. A little help?

You register at AOP.

You will have to wait till the last day of your AOP. The following years you will get e-mails telling you when you can register, these dates are based on your number of credits.

When do you meet with a counselor to plan out the classes you need to take each year to meet the requirements of the major you want to pursue? It would seem to me that there would be a “decision tree” kind of software on the MSU website that would guide students through the process.

Did I miss something on the MSU website? Thanks in advance for your guidance.

I’m not sure which process you’re referring to.

schedule.msu.edu is where you can plan out schedules.
degnav.msu.edu is where you can see major requirements.
orientation.msu.edu is where you can see what is going to happen at AOP.

Hi everyone
i have registered the AOP and received housing contract from the liveon
but i’m wondering how can i enroll into the hall that i’m interested in
there’s a space for filling in campus address(or local address if currently living off-campus), campus/local phone, and cell phone
as i’m an international applicant, what should i fill in there? my own country address or my preferred hall?
thanks!

Unless they’ve changed it, you can’t pick which res hall you get.

I’m 90% sure you fill in your current address in those spots. Maybe someone can correct me.

@ FAFSA parent, your student will meet with an academic advisor at AOP but after that it is up to the student to set up any meetings after that. Also, keep in mind that MSU is a huge school that will not walk students through every step of the way, so there is no ‘software’ that will guide your student, but there are plenty of available resources.

@ ineedanoffer, as a new student to MSU you are not allowed to choose your hall, MSU will do that for you and notify you during the summer. And like romanigypsyeyes said, I’m fairly certain the address you put down is your current one.

bird, that’s not really true. degnav is an excellent way that the university tries to walk students through the process. Also, advisors will walk you through, too.

thanks so much!:D
