does anybody know when we sign up for classes?

socalgirlsd,

That is a good question. In the NYU website Registration section, it notes that April 12 is the first day for Fall 2010 registration for current NYU students. However, there must be a different deadline for freshmen. My son’s letter received after the tuition and housing deposits were received by NYU indicated he should be watching out for more info from housing and ADVISEMENT. I imagine that there will be notification either by mail or via NYUHome Account or the student’s NYU email account. So it is important for you to activate these accounts ASAP when you receive your NYU ID (sent in the above mentioned letter after deposits received).

Any upperclassperson or parent know when registration is officially for incoming Freshmen? I am certain the process will only begin after an appointment has been set with the student’s assigned advisor. So watch out for contact from Advisement.

In the past, incoming freshman have registered during summer orientation. I’m assuming that is still the case. You take any relevant placement tests, meet with an advisor to discuss your plan/options, and register for fall 2010 courses, all while at orientation. I’m not sure how it works for those who don’t attend orientation though.

Just found this link on summer orientation. It should answer your questions on registration: [Freshman Orientation](http://www.nyu.edu/admissions/undergraduate-admissions/admitted-students/freshman-orientation.html)
