i got one last week from harvard, threw it away cause im not applying…but when do we seriously need to start getting/requesting apps frm colleges? o yeah regular not early

most schools have a place on their website where you can sign up and they'll mail you an app and guidebook -- typically late July or early August.

if you're applying regular, you got PLENTY of time. This time last year, I had just gotten my "big list" from my college counselor, and I was starting to do research on schools.

My D got the app from Harvard in the mail Friday.

Yeah I got the Harvard one too. I like how they have the Common App, yet the commonapp website is telling me to come back in July.

when do the applications come out online for those applying early action?

Take a deep breathe. It's going to be a long summer.
1) Put your name on mailing lists. Most colleges won't have applications ready until July or August. You can also check the websites periodically- but judging from past years (d # 1 is now a sophmore in college) the application is not available on website until August.
2) If you have the time and inclination, look at the old application as the format and the essay questions don't change that dramatically over the years. The new common app. is supposed to be available July 1-
Remember colleges are not going to review the application until they receive your HS transcript, teacher recommendations, SAT/ACT scores etc. so most admission offices will not be looking at applications until late Sept./October. And if you are applying regular dec., those applications aren't reviewed until after ED is done in early Dec. Get prepared for the next few months- but try to relax and enjoy the summer-- Good luck to all!
