And when do they take AP credit into account? And the language placement tests that you CANT take online?

I will be away for most of the summer so I want to get this taken care of before I leave. And I wont be able to go to an NSO until August so… I really dont want to start off next year on the wrong foot.

My d needs to investigate this, as well. APs have to wait a bit till you get your scores for senior year :-). I would guess you forward them when you get them, or have them sent. You can probably make sure they have any previous APs now.

You should have an academic advisor. Each school (CAS, SPA, SOC, SIS, Kogod) has their own system. You can call your academic advising office and ask what the procedure is. Technically, you can register now, I think, but the advisor can help you figure out WHAT to register for. You can find your academic advisor by going to your school's website. Different schools have different links, but CAS, for example, has an academic advising link on their homepage. Each school lists the advisors by major or letter of alphabet, so you can figure out who is "your" advisor. I'm sure if you send a friendly email or call, you'll get helpful info.

Be looking through the catalogue (online or print), take some time to read the GenEd section as those are required courses across disciplines. You'll likely AP out of a few, but look and see what is interesting for now.

Technically, you will register through the school's portal, and register online.

i remember my daughter doing a LOT of preparatory paperwork BEFORE her actual July(i think?) session in which she registered. you should be getting a complete coursework bulletin and forms in which you fill in a projected four-year plan of classes considering your major. this is all confirmed, etc. with your freshman advisor, in person during the summer sessions. as advisormom said, have APs sent directly to admissions. placement tests are also taken during summer session. (also things like getting Eagle Bucks card, photo ID, etc.) as best i can remember, ALL APs count (if 4 or 5) but you have to fit them into the proper requirements,ie,gen ed, major. my daughter got lots of credits, tho not all were used to help with program planning. hope this makes sense, LaLara. PM me if you like. ENJOY AU!

Not All AP's count if you have over 30 hours. They cap at 30 and AP can only be used for 2 areas out of the 5(a total of 4 classes).

I would advise that each student try to take as much control over the process of registering as possible. Don't let advisors push you around over what to take. Listen to them, but remember that sometimes they do not know what is best for you so you should tailor your schedule to your individual needs. For example, my earlier advisor wanted to put me in college writing and intro macro even though i exempted both courses.
