When do Wr II enrollment caps lift?

So.. d did her UCLA priority enrollment at her slotted time last night on ursa but couldn't get the Wr II class she wanted as URSA gave her a message about reaching limits (its limited for now at half full--10/20 slots are taken). Is that right that only 1/2 the slots are available? When do these limits get lifted? Does anybody know when you can waitlist?

Yes, only half of the en cap can be filled by priority students to allow non-priority students a shot of getting into the class. I believe you can start enrolling past the half-cap mark once your first pass activates (so when all students have the chance to enroll...so check on ursa). Once first pass activates and the class becomes full, you will automatically be put on the waitlist..

Which, by the way, is so effed up when the class is Honors Collegium. Because it's meant for HONORS students. Who have PRIORITY.

blah.

lol...

so do you just wait until after priority to enroll in it?

I guess.

I've actually never had this problem before.

And it sucks. Because I NEED that class. I can only go to school t/r and I NEED upper div honors credit and, oh, this is the ONLY upper div honors class being offered on a t/r that works with the rest of my schedule.

And you can be sure that if I have to waitlist it, the professor will be getting an email stating exactly that except a whole lot more eloquently.

:D ...well may the enrollment gods be with you..maybe someone will end up dropping the class

p.s. T/R.....I'm making that my goal when I'm a fourth year...

Hah. It was cool when I didn't work and didn't HAVE to limit myself to T/R and had 3 extra days to do whatever with. I skated by. But with work, T/R is still a lot and it's long days and blah. But that's why I learned from this quarter and won't be taking 4 classes in winter/spring. It's too, too much.

Oh, forgot you have to work during the week...yeah, that pretty much takes away the coolness of having m/w/f off...you're not really...off =/

Allie or Flopsy or someone--Can I ask your opinion-- UCLA wants you to complete wr II by end of 6th qtr---is that reality?? since my frosh d didn't get a wr II class this time despite priority, (and it wasn't even close, she was hours away from getting it) and lets assume she won't get it on first pass as she's only a frosh and the second half of the spots wil go fast, when will she "move up the ladder" enough in order to get it? When were you able to? Perhaps its a blessing anyway-- if no frosh get it, and its full of upperclassmen, better to wait????

I think they probably would've satisfied it before they transferred to UCLA...

Btw, theocmom, what writing II class is this?

I am not sure which one, but she said when she didn't get that one, she tried others. Everything she tried was up to the limit already.

ekn- you were right about the first pass thing. My first pass opened today at 1 so I went on around 2 and was able to add the class without any problems. I WAS 18/20 so it's a really good thing I checked when I did.

yay :D

the joys of having senior status lol

Yeah. Now we just need to see if I can get into the last class. It's around 1/3 full.

Blah.

Is second pass the same for everyone?

Nope. Priority people actually tend to get later second passes. It sucks. A lot.

 wow, totally didn't know that...

so...d reports that after seniors registered yesterday, enrollment caps lifted and all wr II classes are now full, so are WL, except for some special sections for transfers-- this seems strange. UCLA has seniors taking wr II? I mean, yes, of course they should get them if they need it but since there aren't any left for jr/soph/frosh will ucla add more? Maybe the completing the wr II requirement in the 1st six quarters is not a reality at ucla?

Well, it CAN be reality b/c I'm enrolled in the wr II class I wanted and I'm a first year too...

I think you're worrying too much theocmom. Within her first two years here, she should be able to get into at least ONE wr II class.

gahhhhhh!!! It's impossible to get a writing II class. I thought honors was reserved for honors students too!
