When do you find out acceptance/rejection?

Hello I am planning to apply to Yale/Brown/Vassar rd by beginning/mid December. Do you know roughly when they send the acceptance/rejection letters or when you can access it online. Could it possibly be before the CSS profile deadline (march 15)? Or is it always after?

Ivy Day is the day around which most private universities that matter to CC release their decisions. Due to an agreement between the Ivy League to stall their arms race (of releasing decisions earlier to try to get the sought-after students), it’s generally been early April but was late March last year (28th iirc).

The CSS PROFILE deadline also varies by college- it was Feb I think for Yale- so it’s always after as far as I know.

Yale and Brown come out on the same day (Ivy Day). It was March 27th last year. Vassar came out on the 26th last year.

Last year was unusual, though, because Ivy Day got moved up into March.

If you are thinking of saving the CSS profile fee, the answer is negative. You cannot wait for the admission result before submitting the CSS profile even if you applied for EA/ED (which have earlier deadline for CSS profile). Just get it done when you are ready.

Thanks I didn’t even know there was such a thing as an ivy day! Yeah I was trying to see if I could get out of paying for the CSS. Oh well :((

Schools post this information on their admissions web pages. For instance, here’s Yale’s information:
<a href=“Application Deadlines | Yale College Undergraduate Admissions”>Application Deadlines | Yale College Undergraduate Admissions;

No… that is the day that Ivy league schools release their admissions. I would not say that those are most of what matter to CC, except for an obsessed few.

One way to get an idea for the non-Ivies is to dig back into the CC threads for a given college to last spring’s results. If you can find the results thread, then you can see when they released decisions last year. Usually only changes by a couple of days at most.

@‌ @intparent‌ Privates tend to cluster around it though, probably for strategic reasons. Rice was 4 days before, Stanford and JHU one day later, CMU by mail that week. MIT was a half month away (3/14) and I think Caltech was within a week of MIT. Not sure about LACs but I bet it’s mid- or late-March last year for WASP, Reed, Wellesley, the Claremonts, etc.
