let me know when you guys are able to get a visit schedule, and if D ends up auditioning for a music scholarship. i will more than likely be helping out in some capacity it would be good to meet a fellow CCer. if she’s interested in being a Music major and wants to overnight, you could probably somehow arrange with Admissions to have her be hosted by me since i’m a host also good luck! hope everything works out!

and as far as appearence, it doesn’t look too bad right now. it has the usual appearance of a place in the middle of winter when the weather has taken a temporary peak in temperatures and snow and stuff is melting, but it still looks pretty good. the grounds crew does a great job with everything. just watch your step in the more grassy areas LOL

YAY!!! i was so keeping my fingers crossed for you guys! if you all come for a visit sometime soon, let me know and i will try to make it for lunch if you’re there that long :)

lamiller, thanks for your warm welcome! We have visited twice (one longer visit, and one just for son’s interview bc we were pressed for time). We don’t plan on visiting again, but we just need our FA offer. Son got a very generous merit aid scholarship.

rockhardabs (love that name, BTW), well you have us on CC. If you have questions, one of us will definitely help you! I can’t tell you how much help I have gotten on CC because I didn’t know where else to turn (certainly not the college counselors at Ds high school). Good luck.

rockhardabs, well, there are thousand of international applicants who are all “alone” like us. I am from Vietnam by the way. Each year, my country has about 500-600 applicants come studying in the US. (or even more if we count 2nd - 3th tied schools, community college or graduate program)

Congratulations to all! Here’s a video just released by Wooster. It was put together by a 2003 grad. Quite lovely … and captures the spirit and essence of this amazing school. Be sure to have your sound on when you watch it!

Congrats to all those accepted. My daughter is a junior at Wooster. She is studying in Scotland this semester. We live in Sarasota (home of New College) and she has adapted to the weather very well. Once she toured the school it was her top choice and it has been even better than she expected.

^^^ Hi rhsmom, nice to see another Floridian at Woo :-). We did a quick tour of New College last year. I’ve always heard good things about it, but I must say I was not as impressed as I hoped. It’s really a different kind of place, Lol. Loved the Ringling Museum though!

How did you guys end up finding Wooster? Just curious.

It did go really fast. They must have shown almost every student in the video! Some very nice looking guys - my D would approve, I think! hahaha

I really like the personal note they left in the acceptance packet. They commented on a witty line in my common app essay lol.
However, I noticed a typo on their rooming information card. They said they find it best when roommates “compliment each other.” <–Oh roomie, you look so nice today! Your shoes are so stylish and you are sooo smart!
I think they meant complement hehe

FLVADAD - my daughter is a bagpiper. Wooster was the best academic fit that offered her the opportunity to continue the pipes. New College is a great fit for a very specific kid. It sure has a beautiful setting!

just wanted to send this out in case there’s anyone wondering…

i will most likely be hosting overnighters the two weeks of our scholarship auditions, february 12th and february 19th. if any of you have daughters that are planning on staying the night, maybe they’ll get roomed with me :)

also, if there is going to be a big group of CC’ers on the Woo campus at one time, maybe it’d be nice to have a light lunch/coffee/hot chocolate at Old Main :)

Great idea - I know so many of you are waiting for word on the College Scholar awards as well - if they have a weekend like they did last year I will be there to pick up some of D’s things to bring home and to do the Parent Committee thing, since Easter is the first weekend in April this year though I don’t know whether they would have it before or after…that might be a good time for lots of CC’ers to meet up on campus. Can’t wait to see the new Lowry!!

Rachacha, do you mean that they have a special visit weekend for College Scholar award winners? If so, is it in April as most admitted student weekends are, or is it earlier (I hope!)?

Yes, they do have a College Scholar visit weekend, it was in April last year (had to check the invite in the scrapbook!). It may be earlier this year because of the holiday weekend - perhaps they will post the date on the Admissions web site soon.
