I have a 3.8 UW GPA from freshman through junior year and a 700+ on every section of the SAT I and II. I heard this would make me eligible for Muir's honors program? However, I have not received any notification of it, just a pamphlet welcoming me to Muir.

Does anyone know? lol

I am so sad lol…only my CR fell short of the 700 :(

I think not being part of the Honors program might discourage me from attending UCSD…how much of a perk is it?

yeah guys I got warren with a 760/800/730 but only a 3.77 UC GPA because of special circumstances.

Is honors easy to join after 1st quarter?
How much of a perk is it?
What are the benefits?

If anybody could help me out on this I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Are you talking about Muir’s Freshman Honors Seminar?
I’m a regents scholar, and they sent me an email saying i would be invited to join the honors seminar… but i dont think its the honors program you’re talking about.

BTW can anyone tell me about the Muir’s Freshman Honors Seminar? What is it? XP

Oh, and I havent gotten any email about any honors program, other than the seminar.

It might be the Honors Seminar. I’m not sure. And congratulations on regents!

I’m a first year in the Marshall Honors program, and I’m not sure if there are any perks. Honors students are able to attend the honors seminars, which may or may not be of interest, depending on the topic. The ones for Marshall seem to center around more on social science than on science.

Otherwise, I haven’t received anything. I think Provost Honors are dependent on GPA and have little to do with the College Honors.

Regents probably has much more of an impact.

I think the pamphlet means you’re in. At least, mine did. They sent me a letter later notifying me that I was in.

Congrats on getting in, anyway!

I’m also in Marshall Honors program (2nd year). I got in after first quarter, and for that you have to have a 3.8 or above, then keep a 3.5 to stay in. As tgbgbt said, there aren’t really that many perks, except your transcript saying you got college honors. I assume that looks good. I would be more interested in department honors, especially if you are going into grad/ professional school. That happens later for most programs, I think.

So if you did not get honors now, as maylix has brought up, do not fret! There are many and more prestigious things to work for once you are here. The biggest honors only come upon graduation anyway (latin, dept, english, phi beta kappa, etc).
