When do you have "too many" extra curriculars?

Title basically explained the question: when do you know that you have too many extra curriculars?
For my case, I am president/chair of four groups, of which two are very prominent groups. However, I was recently invited to act as leader for another group, yet I am not sure if having another president position would make the adcom think that "oh, those must all just be menial positions." What do you think? Would being president of five different things make each position look insignificant?

How can we answer that? I mean if you are President of your school LawnBowling Assoc. which happens to be a world class group...that counts. If you are President of debate which hasn't gone to any competitions for 3 years....who cares. You haven't given enough information other than to tell us you are worried. If you can present your offices as valid and significant then go for it.

no, i have 7 positions and they have meaning, it just means im very busy

ur fine

6 ECs should be sufficient, as long as they show passion.

There's no such thing as "too many ECs", but when you have so many they lose importance. It's better to focus on a few and be dedicated to them. Of course, if you have the time to be dedicated to 6 or 7 clubs, then don't worry.

I ask b/c some have warned that having too many will get the good ones lost in the list.

It will be fine, as long as you emphasize your important ones.

i have the same problem. i have a lot of ec's and im dedicated to all of them. the thing is that i wasnt very active as a sophmore, but this year im very active in everything. i founded 2 clubs. and im very very busy (this is the only free night i had this week!) im pres of a lot of clubs etc. but i hope that colleges wont look down upon me for this. i dont want to get rid of my ec's because i like doing all of them. how can i stress the importance of these clubs to the adcoms. i dont want to come off as a student who realized he want doing anything in soph year and as a junior went running off to join a bunch of clubs to look good to us. also, i have one more prob. my dont do drugs club (thats not the real name) is looking to be very unpopular. i havnt actually had our first meeting and i dont know how many people are interested. ive done the consitiution, found an advisor etc. though. basically my prob is that this is wisconsin and every kid here drinks. its ridiculous. no one else seems to care though. no one is going to want to join a dont drink club if they themselves drink! what do i do? its an important club for our school to have, but its not gonna get any support.

I hijack my own thread :).

I wouldn't create a club that noone supports. Create something that people would support.

anyone else?

i started a dont do drugs club

called it SADD though (haha)

i think as long as you don't spread yourself too thin, you can have alot of fun with ECs

I feel like president of student body, team captain, or like relgious group president are the most impressive because you can't really bs that. I mean, anyone can just start 5 clubs, make themselves president, and never follow through...

"when do you have too many ec's?"

when the number of your EC's exceeds the number of given space for the EC's on the application

when you reach a point when you are doing an EC for college apps.
