I'm a freshman in community college and plan to transfer after two years. Do I sign the IGETC/TAG form immediately or when I'm about to transfer? I'm so confused!

For the IGETC, I don’t believe you ever actually sign anything. Your specific CC has their own printout available with their course offerings that fulfill the IGETC. You then complete the courses you need to at your own pace and check the box that says you did so on the UC application.

For TAG, you’ve got until this time next year. After you have 30 units completed at a CCC, you can sign TAGs online in September. The regular UC application is due Nov. 30 generally.

Hope this helps!

You sign the TAG form in September of the year you send in your transfer application. You have to have 30 semester/45 quarter units (UC transferable) completed in order to be eligible.

You don’t send in the IGETC certification form until after you’re accepted (and might not need to even then, depending on the campus), so you have plenty of time! All you need to do right now is make sure that your courses for freshman year will make you eligible for TAG next fall.
