When do you think I'll hear/what are my chances?

Hey, I submitted my application and scholarship app on Dec 1. My first choice is Engineering(petroleum)

1390/2050 sat
30 act
Subject tests
720 Math1
660 Math2
640 Literature
82 GPA
our school doesn't rank
competitive private school ft worth, TX

Eagle Scout
leadership and elected roles throughout high school and outside of school
consistent improvement in grades since freshman year
Active in school clubs

what are my chances of getting in?
when do you think a reasonable time to expect to hear is?

thanks for any insight

you look like an auto admit except for the non ranking thing.

i think you are in and will hear this month.

but what do i know!!??

that’d be great!
and then I wouldn’t even have to do all those safety applications

You got this :)

probably in. %80.

i dont mean to threadjack but in reference to the auto admit from a non ranking school i scored a 31 on the acts but my school doesnt rank… does that take away my chance of an auto admit?

sdf9235: As I understand it, this will keep you from being an auto admit. One of the requirements to be admitted automatically is to be in the top 25% so you technically don’t meet that requirement. That doesn’t mean you won’t get in. They just have to do a holistic review to make their decision.

In short, you will not be able to be automatically admitted.

As to whether your school not ranking helps you or not, it depends. If you would have been ranked highly in your class, then it hurts you. If you would have been ranked low it will help you.

It all depends on how your class rank compares to your grades, test scores, etc.

with your sat’s and ACT scores, being an Eagle Scout is a plus… A&M loves to see leadership roles, I believe you will be an early admit. I believe you will hear between now and January 8th
what is your 1st choice major?

Thanks for the confidence klparker 312. I sure hope you’re right. I’m still on step two and it gets frustrating not seeing any changes. My first choice is Petroleum Engineering.

It is hard to wait, I really know - it isn’t any easier on your parents :expressionless:
I think now that the students are gone or almost gone for semester break I believe they will start looking at the review admits. Your sats are good, petroleum engineering may lag behind on admissions - but don’t worry. I feel strongly you will soon be an Aggie. So keep us posted. The old Aggies like me love to hear when the good news comes.

Moved to step three today!

Congrats man! Makes sure you request petroleum if you already haven’t. That fills up really fast like alot of engineering majors. Engineering at A&M is a challenge, but it’s fun. I love it.

DP

Still on step 3
very frustrating

I’m 90% sure (barring something terrible) that you will be accepted

my D stayed on step 3 for a month, so I wouldn’t expect to hear real soon if i were you.

nice to see the move to step 3 but step three is the LONG one!

Good chances. You’re in.

Talked to my college counselor today. She thinks it’ll be march before I hear anything. I’m still checking three times a day. I’m pretty sure I’m addicted to checking application statuses.

March is when scholarships come out so I wouldn’t be surprised if that is when they send out a bunch of their admission decisions too.

hmm what school did you go to if you dont mind me asking? Trinity Valley?

azim: Country Day
