Hmm... well my guidance counselor called and my region's director said they were willing to reconsider any last minute information for the deferred applicants. The pro-life poem will confirm my interest in pro-life activism (which I did mention in the r

Maybe we'll end up at the same college and I'll be an active member of the campus pro-choice organization!

But I mean, really, especially considering what a sensitive topic it is right now...I just think sending in a pro-life poem could seriously hurt you more than it would help you. Most poems, for that matter.

Hmm.... maybe. And then again, maybe not... only time will tell. You did get accepted into Amherst too right? Well, in any case, good luck to you.

Does anyone have any advice about my Harvard situation? Please help! Thanks in advance! (By the way, please read my previous posts to see what I need help with). :D

Just an old Dad here with a question...my daughter just had a second interview 2 weeks ago along with a group of 22 other Long Island, NY students. Anyone have any insight on what it all means? (speculation is a tight competetion with few slots open). Also, she was just named Valedictorian (as I suspect most of you kids are), should she notify Admissions?

Yeah, accepted into Amherst and Williams.

IT only takes one day for everything to arrive at Harvard though...if you do it by fax.

Everyone says it's too late, but you NEVER KNOW.

VicsDad - can't hurt to try to notify them - have her call on Monday to see what the best way is to do so (fax, email, snail mail). They will tell her if it is too late.

APDoolittle and hideANDseek, you already sent your stuff right? So it doesn't matter what people here think. We will all say it's too late, you will reply that it might not be...we're both looking after our personal interests (at least it's in my personal interests if you don't send stuff that makes you look better than me :D). Eleven-ish days until we know for sure...then let us know if it worked or not so we can kick ourselves for not sending in last minute materials too.

Haha, rather than kicking yourselves later, SEND SEND SEND!! Haha, it really may not be too late. Like you said, there's still a little bit of time left. Don't live to regret it!!

Hmm... I didn't even consider faxing my info! I think I'll do that! It's a lot quicker (obviously) than snail mail!!!! Regardless of what you do or do not do in the next few days, GOOD LUCK!! :D

Amherst and Williams already have their admission results out? When did it happen?

Well, Early Write decisions have been out for a little while now. I got into both schools Early Write (which means they send early notification to their top RD students to let them know they're definitely in). I hope that Early Writes from Williams and Amherst are good indicators of Ivy Acceptance. I believe the book, "A is For Admission" said something to that effect.

Ok, now I'm writing the letter to Harvard about my continued interest. How do you start a letter like that? I'm sure some of you have already written these or are in the process. Do you start, "Dear Harvard Admissions Committee" or "Dear Harvard Admissions" "Dear Regional Director"?? I have absolutely no idea. I suppose "Dear Harvard Admissions" is the safest bet. After that, what else should I write? Can anyone who's already written their letter (or is writing it) let me know? Thanks! :)

When I wrote letters of update last year, it was just To whom it may concern or To the admissions committee. No biggie.

Wait xjayz, you were deferred EA as well correct? Did you just respond soon after the deferral letter? I've read that it's best to wait til March (haha again, in "A is for Admission").

Is there any hope for me? Does anyone suppose that if I send the stuff in the mail and call or e-mail Harvard (to let them know its coming), that I'll have a chance? Will they read it in time? I hope decisions haven't been made, and that if they have been, that they'll be open to last minute updates! Oh, and I've been told that Harvard Admissions discourages faxed Admissions materials. Is this true? I thought it would be a quick and convenient way, but if they discourage it then maybe it would hurt rather than help. Any and all insight (positive of course) would be appreciated. Thanks!

When I called Harvard about updates, they gave me the fax number, with the caveat that it may be a little late. (This was last Monday.)

I was deferred EA. No, I sent update letters later. I don't know if there is any hope for you. They probably already made a decision on your application, as the only admissions cases left are probably those that are borderline.

Hmmm... idk. I suppse the defers would be the last to be considered no? I sure hope I'm not borderline, but I hope they would accept last-minute updates! I think I'll call 'em tomorrow and let 'em know I'm sending. Who knows.... only one way to find out!

I'm pretty sure I'm either borderline or below borderline: / pessismist's view.

Yea. But it's really weird that Tufts(I know this is H board) wanted me to address everythign to the director.

Hmm... well I have no idea at this point where I stand. But judging on my early-write acceptances to Amherst and Williams, I can't be doing too bad! I'm definitely sending all the things I said I would to Harvard this week. I'll call them to let them know it's on its way. It can only help! Good luck everyone! :)

Ok, now it's down to just the letter. I have "Dear Harvard Admissions" written so far. I'm just not sure how to start. I don't want to beg. I don't want to sound corny or clich

If you're applying to Harvard - and hoping to be accepted on your own virtues - obviously you have many - you should be able to write your own letter! Relax!
