For freshman class of 2012? I'm sure I read it somewhere but I can't find it

Academic Calendar Fall 2007 through Summer 2010

you (frosh) move in on august 28

nso (orientation) goes from august 28 - september 2

classes start september 3

do you suggest getting to philly on august 28 or should we get there a few days in advance to get everything in order??

I think you can only move in a day or two early...any earlier and you have to pay "rent". You have 5 days before classes to get things in order (although you have to consider your party habits before really counting these as full days).

at most, only a day early is advised

otherwise nobody will be here (no other frosh except possibly international students or pre-nso program participants) and no dining halls will be open

and so you'll be a lonely soul when you first get here, and that sucks

I would say get here a day early. Benefits:

1.) Official Move-in Day is chaos. Absolute chaos with traffic, getting moving carts, getting your Penn ID, etc.

2.) You can explore campus more and get yourself acquainted better.

3.) Unless your roommate got there before you you have your choice of side of the room, or if you're in a triple you can get one of the single rooms.

thanks...how is nso?? is it as fun as ive heard?

^ It's more fun at Stanford. :p

Anything is more fun at Stanford

People I know split Penn in 5 sections:

NSO
Freshman year
Sophomore year
Junior Year
Senior Year

NSO also feels really long even though its 5 or so days. You will have a million NSO stories about drunken debauchery, people you met who you initially became friends and then realized you hated, etc.

Forget moving in early. Do a pre-orientation program.

I moved in a day early and campus was eerily empty. But I was glad that I had a full day to set up my room and walk around, so the next day I could focus on meeting people and perfecting my sense of direction. I would recommend it, especially if you don't live on the first floor (aka need to use an elevator/walk up staircases). I had to pay like $28.50 to move in a day early but it was worth it.

^^^please be joking :)

how much does it cost to move in early if you aren't a freshman
i might need to do this **** to avoid going back home.

Joking about what

^ About Stanford's NSO--and everything else--being more fun.

(Andy wisely chose Penn over Stanford. ;) )

man stop sucking penn's **** and answer my question
