I submitted my FAFSA about a month ago and received a confirmation email. I checked student business, however, and they said they have noot received my FAFSA. I know some colleges don’t even check for FAFSA until near the February/beginning of March. Is Michigan one of those? If not, why haven’t they received my FAFSA?
Have your done DRT verification after submission?
They told me it is because they don’t download it until you’ve been accepted. I don’t know if you are in that category,
I’ve been accepted. What’s the DRT verification@billcsho
Ok I just called the office. They said they download them near the end of February/beginning of March.
You won’t get your FA award until late March.
@woah16 DRT verification is to verify your FAFSA after filing tax return. With that, FAFSA can retrieve your tax return info and confirm your entry. Before that, the school may consider it as just an estimate. If you do not owe money, DRT should be available within a couple weeks after e-filing. Just go back to your FAFSA login and check.
My parents used estimate tax information on my FAFSA. I received my SAR and EFC but there is no mention of verification. I plan on updating the information shortly when my parents complete their return but UM’s financial aid office (and others) said it wasn’t essential to use the data retrieval tool as I haven’t been selected for verification. Guess I should all them again.
They may still ask for W2 nd tax transcript for verification. Even we did DRT, we still need to submit those later on.
@billcsho Correct. Most universities (UM included) ask you to submit tax returns and W2s. Pretty standard practice. Note however that UM doesn’t use IDOC, so you send them directly. The info is in the financial aid information you will receive with your award notice.
