When does PSU usually hold its new student orientation?

I think it must be different for all students. My son took the Aleks March 1st with his id he’s had. I just confirmed with him. He did not get a new id. Maybe it goes by major. Anyway, hope everyone was able to ge in.

@AJPAT123 I believe my daughter got an email to set up that webaccess account a few weeks ago. You might want to call or email the school to find out whats up.

@ajpat123 I’m not sure as it sounds like things changed. A friends of penn state account is usually used for families . I have a psu log in, so does my daughter. We see different things when we log in. She can take the tests from there and I cant.
Your psu I’d will be on your portal. Usually starts with a 9 I think. That’s your student ID. You should be able to log in with that. But you can always call admissions to get more assistance

I’m like 85% sure that’s not what you log in with. Usernames are formatted like abc1234.

ETA: Make that 99.9% sure. Logging into LionPATH uses the same PSU WebAccess system as ANGEL, eLion, eLiving, and the app.

@bodangles You are correct. My son just granted me permission to view all his files, grades etc. and it’s my 3 initials followed by 4 numbers. His student id is his 3 initials followed by the 4 numbers. It’s how he longs on to everything.

I log in with my 3 initials and 4 numbers but then when i Check the settings for my student ID it matches the student id that @jlhpsu was talking about, the one that comes on the portal. I think that ID in the portal is correct.

Yes, that’s your ID number, but that’s not what you log in with. I have never used my ID number except to write it on ScanTrons when required. It won’t help anyone log into LionPATH as far as I know.

@bodangles you are absolutely correct. I don’t know why I was thinking of the PSU ID number!?
I was trying to remember how to do the Aleks stuff from a year ago and I thought I remembered her having to use her actual student ID. But I know now that she logs into everything with her ID that is also her email etc…
It is true that a friends of penn state account does not give you the same access. I have a FPS account and I’m limited in what I can see on elion (now LionPath).

@jlhpsu @bodangles @japsmom I Logged in with my username that I use for the portal, which is the same format that you guys said above and that screen comes up. I can’t do anything except log out or click the links they provide.

Yeah I haven’t recieved that email I’ll make a call to ask later when I’m out of school.

@jlhpsu @bodangles @japsmom It wont let me log in to take the test (the NSO webpage has a link that tells us to log into lion path) but will allow me to do it when I go straight to the webaccess page from google.

LionPATH is brand new and not completely rolled out yet, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it was having some problems still. Glad it worked out!

@bodangles LionPATH didnt work, but web access did, I dont really know what the difference is but I guess I have to call and ask whats up.

@bodangles Hey, for Aleks test if its making you prep for pre-cal and then you retake it and do better will it make you prep for calc?

Im asking because I got placed low but know most of the topics they are making me prep, and dont want to be prepping for pre-calc for long.

The cutoffs are based on score, so if you scored below the precalc cutoff, study, retake, and then score above the calc cutoff, you should be able to take calc, as far as I know. Is that what you’re asking?

Yes,thank you. There’s no deadline for when to finish the detests right? You just have to place enough for the class you want when you choose right?

guys, when exactly does the ALEKS roll out? I committed to Purdue about 2 months back (although i got into PSU, sorry guys), but I have not been informed about anything? I had always assumed that it would come out at the start of March, but it seems not to be the case here. And could someone tell me how easy it is to get a good score on the assessment? I did the british A-level curriculum, so Im not qualified to reassure myself that I can do well. Thanks.

@skyblade1234 I don’t know if it’s the same for every school - you probably want to ask that question on the Purdue threads.

Hi, not sure if this question was addressed before…Does anyone know if New Student Orientation is held during the week or on a weekend? If its during the week, where do the students stay if classes are still in session?

You stay in the dorms. Mine was a renovated hall in South. There are not many students on campus in May/June, as the regular spring semester ends in early May.
