When does the Harvard admissions office begin evaluating applications?

In my interview this weekend, the interview made a mention about how he would be sending out his interview report that same day in order for it to make it to Cambridge by next week, when admissions officers would begin evaluating the applications. I can’t remember the exact day the interviewer mentioned—it was either the 9th or the 11th. Does anyone have any information that would confirm this?

Also, does anyone have any information on the actual admissions process—what happens to my application now that it’s been submitted? I’m just sort of curious what the process is, if it gets read in regional groups or by order of submitting, if everything gets sent to a committee or if one person makes the decision, etc.

Admissions Officers probably began reading application from students as they came in in mid to late October. There are multiple rounds of evaluations, ending with the full committee meetings in December for SCEA applicants… This article will help you get a handle on what happens: http://www.bostonmagazine.com/2006/05/keys-to-the-kingdom/

@gibby who are the ‘clearly inferior’ applicants?

^^ Probably those student’s with lots of B’s on their transcript who were given back-handed compliments by their recommendation writers: http://marymountcollegeadmissionblog.blogspot.com/2011/01/when-recommendations-attack-worst.html
