When does the SSAT Count?

He will be applying to an 8-12 BS as an 8th grader. That's why he's taking the lower. Surely they wouldn't want him to take the upper?? Who would they rank him with? Is it worth a call to admissions? I don't want to bug them.

I am sorry - I did not understand that you were looking at an 8-12 school. I am sure they would want him to take the level test for the grade he is entering in the fall. Referring to your post #17, when you take the test (for real, the ones you will send to the schools) make sure you properly record your child's current grade so that they may be rated accordingly. Because the SSAT's test both genders and a wide range of grades, the individual groups are ranked/graded separately (not sure if this is the proper terminology). As an example to clarify: An 8th grade boy is scored by a rubric that is different from a 10th grade girl. And so on. You are only ranked against the same 'apples'.

Oh, and do bug the admissions. They are there for you and your family. If you clear up any confusion now, it will make their lives much easier later :).

Good point....better bug them now than when they're bogged down with piles of essays.

Thank you, everyone, for responding.
