When does WashU makes it decisions? Do I still have time to visit in Feb before decisions are made?

Hi,

I really like WashU but it has recently come to my attention that WashU cares a ton about demonstrated interest. I have not visited so I feel like I may not have a chance at all. (I’ve heard about someone admitted to Stanford but waitlisted/rejected from WashU…)

I have submitted my application for the Olin School of business already (I applied by Dec 15 so I have priority consideration for scholarships, but now I just want to get in lol!). I have decent stats, 1550 SAT, 35 ACT, 5.0/5.3 W GPA, 18 AP Classes and many business related EC’s.

My question is, when are decisions made? I am considering visiting another school for an admitted students event on Feb 14-15 or Feb 28-29, and can visit WashU before or after the event, although it will be a lot of extra effort. If the admissions committee sees I visited, will it give me a big leg up (as in I may have a chance)?

Is it worth doing this? I will visit anyways before making a decision to go, but I am wondering if visiting in mid-Feb will have any impact on admissions.

Additionally, could I contact a professor at discuss opportunities/research and send an update to the school? I believe most people only do this when they have done a major activity after submission, but could I include information from my discussion with a professor along with a description of another activity. I do a program where we create a business every year and we just started development of a new product, so I was thinking of discussing that. Disclaimer: I have never sent an update to a school or even thought of it really, so I have no idea if any of what I just described made sense.

Thank you so much!

I would call and ask an admissions officer that question. Personally, I think it might not help since it is a late date. Have you been offered an alumni interview? If so, perhaps you can mention that to them, and they could make note of it. WashU does understand that not everyone can financially visit but by interviewing, attending college fairs, or meeting with representatives at your school would help as well. Also, applying for the scholarships shows interest. Best of luck to you!
