And what are their summer plans?

My D gets home Tuesday yippee! She will be working two jobs - one in her field (the arts) that does not pay that well and another as a barista or waitress to rake in the tips for next year's tuition!

What? They come home?

My daughter worked at school all three summers, in jobs ranging from dorm front desk help to lab work at school in her major to working at small firms in her major. When she graduates this year she’s already found a dream job near her alma mater.

She never did come home…

D1 comes home in 2 weeks, aside from going to yoga/pilates, the beach and rollerblading, she will be working parking at the fair and maybe something else too, I am not sure. She was considering taking an online summer school course, but I don’t know what she decided.

S2 doesn’t come home for another 5 weeks. No real solid summer plans yet.

Mines been home for a week! Leaves for internship in 2 weeks.

UCD Alum - I relish this summer because I know it’s the last one she’ll spend at home. She will probably do summer stock next summer. It’s hard to get them back to Podunk, Texas from the bright lights of NYC!

Miami (Ohio) is officially out today, but my DS came home yesterday. He will be working a few part time hours and taking a couple of classes at the community college.

DD comes home next Thursday. Yay! Running summer riding camp at a local barn and mucking stalls for extra cash!

My D gets home on May 25th from Boston College (CSOM '12). We take her and my son (starting UC Berkeley Engineering in the Fall) on a Mexican cruise in early June and then my daughter starts her summer internship for a Big 4 firm up in San Jose on June 20th.

D was grumbling yesterday that she likely won’t be able to come home until another month or longer, as she & S will be driving from CA to DC/VA before then. She originally thought it was a great bonding experience but now is grumpy that it will take away time she could spend with relatives & friends in HI instead. Sheesh! She was also bemoaning the fact that last summer, we had a family road trip that also shortened her summer by a month (S graduated & that was what we had planned after trip to Europe fell through due to the Iceland volcano).

S just arrived home after 6 weeks in Thailand! He will leave in a short while to join us in DC & have no idea when he’ll be back to HI.

S came home Wed. night. Went to work yesterday 7 a.m. and got home 9 p.m. Already at 12 hours today too. Not even done w/school yet either–these are reading days and his finals are next Wed/Thurs.

S2 finished today with a 250 question final. He goes to work tonight at 8 for a 12 hr shift. I really had some projects this summer on which I wanted their manual labor…

DS#1 should be landing in New Orleans within the hour. My DH drove over there today. They will spend some time with my mom, but also enjoy 2 days at the Jazz & Heritage Festival before heading here on Monday.

DS#1 will be home for about 10 days - then he’ll be away the rest of the summer touring/performing with the Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps. He’ll finish that “gig” just in time to head back to school for band camp.

Meanwhile, DS#2 is skipping high school graduation so that he can attend the LSU freshman geology field camp out in Colorado. Let’s see - sitting for 3+ hours in a crowded auditorium with 600 of your closest (NOT!) friends…or heading to Colorado and gearing up for a trip to the Grand Canyon??? It would be a no-brainer for me, too!

Picked freshman D today, starts a job in her field of study monday AM

Not soon enough!!! I’ve only spent 2 days with him in the last 4 months. He’s saying he’s thrilled to be done with classes but sad to be leaving his friends. Nine months ago, when he was just starting freshman year, that’s exactly what I was hoping for. It’s been a good year for him. There’s been some stressful times too though. I think he had to work a lot harder than he thought he would. But with this hopefully comes a good dose of maturity. We’ll see when he gets here next week. Chances are I’ll be ready to send him back again in August (based on how Xmas break went)!

D will be home from William & Mary on 16th. Exams are over, but she wanted to stay and attend graduation for some of her friends, pack up her room and finish writing some articles she is working on for a university publication. She’ll be home for a week and a half before she begins her internship working on marketing for a dance company. She will head back to VA for her senior year in mid-August one day before we leave to take her brother to his first year in college. Then, we return home to our “empty nest”!

S1 heads home on Tuesday for a few weeks, just enough time to get clothes and such together for his internship in Washington DC. We will then be visiting him there near the end of the internship in August.

PMKjr has already been home for a week! Yahoo! He goes back to Boston in two weeks. Boo!

As much as we’ll miss him, he got a summer job on campus that he is really excited about, so we are thankful for that.

I’ve got one still living at home, getting his AA next weekend, and he’ll be home till he goes off to TCNJ sometime at the end of August. He’s still working the same job he’s had since high school (full-time in the summer), and interviewing for a second job.

I’m picking up the other one next Wednesday night, when his final final is over. I find it crazy that there are exams until Wednesday night, and the dorms need to be vacated by Thursday at noon…but that’s the way it is. He’ll be taking some classes over the summer, and is looking for a job. He, too, will be off to college again at the end of August.

Daughter is at Northwestern which is on a quarter system so they’re not done until the second week in June! She’s working before finals is over so had to clear taking two of her finals during reading week. She leaves school late Thursday night and heads for New England Saturday - she’ll be home for 2 whirlwind days. She really needs a good week or two of relaxation but that’s not going to happen until September when she’ll be home for about 1 1/2 weeks. I’m glad to hear there are others whose kids aren’t home much during the summer, this is my first time and I’m already missing those lazy conversations and having all of us under one roof for a period of time. Oh well.

Kid had her last final on Monday, and ends RA duty tomorrow. Next week she starts her graduate level classes, so no home for her. Her Physician Assistant program is three years of undergrad, then 2 1/2 of graduate level classes. On Monday she will meet all of the new-comers to the grad program - people who’ve been working in medical fields and now want the PA degree.

Keeps me confused because she’s in grad school, but receives her BS next May.

D1 comes home on Sat. Don’t have to pick her up because BF is bringing her home. She’s 8 hrs away so I’m glad I don’t have to make that trip this spring. She’ll be home all summer and is planning on helping D2 get ready for college (lots of shopping). She’s also taking a class at CC and will hopefully find a job.
