I know a lot of schools say april 1 is the deadline for school to let you know, but when exactly do they usually let you know. Is it a few days before that, or different for each school. Do they say on their school websites, because I haven't found it. Anyone know?

It definitely depends on the school. Some schools release RD as early as january 1st.

waaaaaaayyyy toooo vague

okay, for the ivy league schools, some say the deadline for notification of admission decision in RD round is April 1. So that is the latest they let you know. When is the earliest the ivy league schools and and others similar to them release admission decisions online.

depends on the college, and, at times, the schools within the college...sometimes, you are notified as soon as the decision is made

According to an article on the JHU board, last years admissions department wanted to get their decisions out before the ivy league schools.

“The Ivies post decisions online on Thursday and we want to beat them,” is one staff member’s explanation of tonight’s mad, after-hours rush.”

So apparently JHU released decisions March 28, while the ivies supposedly released them on March 29.

MIT often tries to send theirs out (or is it to have most students receive them? I've forgotten, but I think it's sending) on Pi Day (3/14). It was the first decision I got, either positive or negative, back in spring '03.

All my acceptances came at least a week before April 1 last year. Some were preceeded by likely letters/calls.

Check the specific college forums for last year's posts to get an idea of when notification is sent.
