i'd rather just get in...phone or envelope, doesn't matter :)

I'd rather get the envelope, by far, either way. Even if all you guys who (may or may not) call find out earlier than I do, I think I'll stick with good old snail mail...if only because it's a way to prolong the non-rejection!

The envelope rejection is by far the better choice, because it's impossible to reach through a phone and rip the other person to shreds then throw him/her into the fire.

I don't care how i find out my decision, whether it is by smoke signals or snail mail. My reaction would still be ecstatic joy, or depression regardless of the way I am told.

I was thinking about that too -- I'm curious as to whether it will be around the 10th or closer to the 18th because of the hurricane season...

I can't decide what would be worse: hearing over the phone that I didn't get in, or walking into my house and seeing the thin envelope laying on the floor.

-Ender

Haha, someone call to find out when we can find out the decisions!

like the other thread: not it!

Hmm...

Talked to someone at Stanford today...

"When will Early Action decisions be available by phone?"

"Never."

He said it will all be done by mail in "Mid-December*...what happened to calling?

-Ender

any news on the no of applications??

that's good news! B/c if there phone is available, then I'll want to call but I'll be too scared to call. So now I'll just wait for the mail.

Wow.. good info, Ender!

So... if you call (assuming that you're allowed to/it works to), is it automated and you enter in your number and then some message says "accepted" or "rejected" or "deferred"? Or is it a real live person? I feel bad for the real live person that has to say, "I'm sorry, you didn't get in..." many many times.

im still gonna be calling. = P its the way i am.

After all this discussion, I'm still confused. CAN we even call? If we can I'd rather know a couple days early, but the guy in the office told me that you can't call... What's the deal?

-Ender

Well, it's not like it would hurt to call. Just call and they'll either say "we can't tell you" or they'll give you your decision. If they say "tell us your name so we can cancel your application since we told people not to call," just hang up =)
