Sorry if this question's been discussed before. Vanderbilt doesn't have any sort of login (unless I don't know of it... gulp...), so I was wondering where we'd go to check our results, and when we'd get to do it!

Q: “When will I be notified about my admissions decision?”

A: “… Admissions decisions are communicated via postal mail only, until a sufficient number of days have passed for letters to arrive to addresses nationwide. Only at that time will the admission office release decisions by phone. International students and American students overseas will receive their admissions letter first via email, followed by the actual letter and information packet (for admitted students).”

^^^

Oh. I feel like an idiot who can’t even use Google well.

Thanks!

Honorlions–if I recall correctly from 2 years ago, when my daughter received her acceptance from Vandy it was in one of those large-ish cardboard US priority mail envelopes and arrived a couple of days before we were expecting it.

Watch the Admission Blog. For ED1 and ED2 they posted a blog on the day the letters were sent. The early decision letters were sent in regular business envelopes. I was expecting something bigger for an acceptance letter.

Acceptance letters have come in both big and normal size envelopes? Guess we won’t know until the envelopes are torn and read!

So is an acceptance letter in a noticeably larger envelope or just a normal sized one?

For Early Decision 1 back in December, it was a regular business letter envelope. When I saw the envelope I just knew my son was getting a rejection letter. It was a wonderful surprise to see the words “Congratulations”. The regular decision letters may be different since they may contain more information to help students decide to attend Vanderbilt. With the Early Decisions letter they included a gold envelope to send back the first check. : )

ED acceptance letters came in standard business sized envelopes, and when held up to the light a gold return envelope was visible, as was the first line of the letter body, which read “Congratulations!”

Best of luck to you!

RD acceptances are sent in a large priority mail envelope and include a variety of information on housing, meals, student e-mail, etc. ED acceptees will also receive these large priority mail envelopes at this time since this additional information isn’t sent to them with their business size acceptances in December & February.

Ahh I see! Guess this means a daily mailman hunt until I get a decision!

Thanks for everything!

Fingers crossed for a large envelope for us all!

Hoping they are mailed at the end of this week so we have them next week - and of course for large envelopes for all :D

@2VU0609…

Seems like you are connected to Vandy…

Can you tell me if it is still possible for a student to get a merit scholarship, even if they know by now they did not receive any of the “signature” scholarships applied for (Ingram, CV)? (I’m not talking about any financial aid or financial aid grants - I’m asking about pure merit scholarship given without consideration of need.)

compnerd1000,
Not connected to Vandy except for having had a student enrolled almost continuously since 2002. S did two stints there - undergrad and law school. He was an RD admit, so I know that routine from his experience. D was an ED admit, so I’m familiar with that process through her. She is now headed back for a Peabody masters program in the fall, so I continue to be the perpetual Vanderbilt parent!

compnerd, my understanding is that applicants to CV are considered for other merit scholarships if they don’t get the CV. I’m pretty sure they told us this explicitly somewhere.

Also, National Merit Finalists get something – if I remember correctly, it’s a min of $5K.

exstudent is correct, if you fillied out the CV application you will be considered for other scholarships. They also consider some other outstanding applicants even without this application.

thanks for the replies, everyone. I went back to website and see that there are other possibilities. the ones described include some special requirements in addition to academics, but it seems there might some that don’t have special stipulations… maybe there is still some hope for something. In any event, we’ll find out soon enough, I guess!

Decisions for 2016 were mailed on the 23rd last year. There isn’t a blog post saying anything about releasing them yet. Do you think that they will wait until next Friday to release even though for some it is a religious holiday? Because the past few years they have been mailed on Fridays so I’m wondering if anyone thinks they might mail them during the week? The anticipation is actually killing me

I think ED letters were sent on a Monday
