<p>What happens if I take the act plus writing and a school doesn't require the writing. Can I send just the act score w/o writing? Like does it come as 2 scores??</p>

<p>I’ve taken it with writing twice. You’ll get your normal composite score and subscores, just like you would if you took it without writing. Below that on your score report, you’ll have a writing subscore, which is where your essay is scored out of 12 points. There will also be a combined English/Writing subscore where the essay score is combined with the English multiple choice section for a score out of 36. If the school you send your score to doesn’t require writing, it won’t matter if the writing score is on there or not; they’ll look at your multiple choice just like they would look at anyone else’s.</p>
