You should make sure that you meet the date that your prospective colleges are looking for the FAFSA or you could find your self without aid as you will not get any aid with out the FAFSA.

You may find yourself at the bottom of the financial barrell if yor school does not meet 100% of demonstrated need as most of the scholarship grant money may be disbursed by the time they get around to you as a result of your filing late. For school which send both the admissions and FA decisions out together , your application will be considered incomplete.

Your parents can and shoudl file using their "best Guess" using their end of the year paystub and last year's taxes as a guideline. Baring any major fluxuations in income it shoudl be ok. They should check off the box will file, then amend the FAFSA when they file. They will need to file early as possible because some schools will not give you a package without copies of their signed taxes, W-2's etc.

What year in high school do you fill out the FAFSA?

Your senior year.

If you are currently a senior in high school who has applied to colleges and are asking now when the FAFSA is do, I strongly advise you to immediately check with each college to which you have applied to determine the date it is due (you will likely find that info on the college's "financial aid" page of its site). Colleges set their own date by which the FAFSA is due and the date can range from sometime in January to mid or late March. The last thing you want to do is miss the date required by the particular college you want to attend.

no. make estimates and correct in March.
