When is it advisable to drop down to honors course from AP class?

@cptofthehouse - In public schools in Georgia they do not average the 2 semesters grades. Each semesters grades are listed separately.

OP- sounds like your D did well last semester. I think it would depend on the colleges she applied to if a couple of C’s make a difference. For example, where my son is going their acceptance letter is “worded” so that it is obvious they will recind if you mess up too much in senior year. So much so that while DS got all A’s last semester and has A’s in all classes but AP Macro economics which he currently has a low B in , he is concerned. He knows he is ok with a B but is concerned a C may be a problem.
I’d try and convince her to do her best.

None of the schools that she applied to averages the two semester’s grade into one letter grade, I think.

As for getting the C’s as a final semester grade being a deal breaker or not, we don’t know yet since she hasn’t received any acceptances from her reach schools so far and haven’t seen their conditions of acceptance.

She is even more relaxed now that she has gotten acceptance letters from couple of in-states (UCI and UCSD), either of which she will go to gladly, and she reassures me that their offers won’t be rescinded unless she gets a D or an F.

I am just trying to keep her motivated during these last 12 weeks of school.
