I was assigned an interviewer for princeton over fifteen days ago and have not yet been contacted to schedule the interview. I know I am not supposed to contact her first but I wouldn’t want to miss the interview either.
When is it appropriate to contact the interviewer? Should I contact Princeton? How long is it worth waiting?
There is no real need to contact them. It is ok even if you completely miss the interview. The interviewers are probably extremely busy right now interviewing other applicants and writing their reports.
If you don’t get one, it just means there wasn’t enough alumni to interview all the applicants from your area. You won’t be docked for not having an interview.
@rdeng2614 Maybe I wasn’t clear. I did get an email and was assigned an interviewer from my area and told I would be contacted by her. She hasn’t contacted me yet, though and I’m not sure whether I should contact her as I’ve been given her email etc.
^ same, I too would like to know about Princeton. I’m told the vast majority of their applicants receive interviews (over 90%) meaning this is an important part of the process compared to other schools.
If you were my kid, I’d advise you to email and provide your mobile phone in the correspondence. Perhaps she forgot/is too busy. Contacting after 15 days isn’t pushy. I also disagree with cowtownbrown. While P says 90%, in actuality I find this hard to believe. I interview for a peer school. Years ago, my area was 90% and we were one of the top performing regions in the country. Now, the applicants far outnumber the volunteer slots. I suspect the PTon alumni are extremely similar to my Ivy’s alumni. It’s not 90%. And it’s not an “important” part of the process. Is it wanted? Yes. But not essential. And Admissions is 100% capable of admitting students with or without an interview report submitted.
