Is December too late to take the SAT Subject tests if I am applying to schools with RD deadlines like Jan 1?
Here's the deal:
Im a NMSF and they say that they really want you to take the SAT by/on the November test date. Well that's all nice and wtvr except I have to take SAT II for some colleges and feel like sooner than later is better for that. I mean, I can still take the regular SAT in Dec even if National Merit Scholarship Corporation doesn't like it. Also, I'm nervous that if I take the regular SAT in November and don't do so great, the score will automatically be sent with my Subject Test scores to the colleges. If I take it in December, I'm assuming that won't be a problem. Lastly, I'm pretty good at history and am taking World History this year. I'm considering taking this test (in addition to Lit and Math1) but it's only offered in December. Ahhh, so confusing!!

If you take the SAT I in December, you jeopardize your possible qualification as a National Merit Finalist - yes, you can take it "even if National Merit Scholarship Corporation doesn't like it", but they can deny you finalist status. Their game, their rules.

If that doesn't matter to you, then we get to the second question - whether it's in time for college applications. Take a look at the websites of the colleges you're interested in. The vast majority will tell you right on the website which SAT dates are acceptable for their application deadlines. If they don't, or you can't find it, then call and ask them.

December is acceptable for them but November is preferable.

So even if my SAT II scores will be released almost around deadline time (late December) for the application but the college says the last test date is january, then im good?

If the college says the last good test date is January, then you're good. That's why they write those things.
