End of Junior year?
Mid Senior year?
End of Senior Year?

I think it is sometime Junior year, but I don't know; I am only a rising Junior.

Lol, I thought this meant.. when is it over?

At my HS you get invited middle of soph year, you have to apply after that and they review the application for a really long time and only like 20 people are in it each year. So we get "inducted" or whatever beginning of JR year. There are always very few seniors, and as a rising senior NHSer, I will be quite alone.

In my school probably a fifth of grade is in NHS. You have to apply in the middle of yor junior year and you need at least 25 hours of community service and t least a 90 average. So basically everyone with over a 90 average is in it. Funny thing is the 3rd and 4th ranked kid in the class werent in it because they didnt have enough community service hours and they had around 104 averages. I think this might happen to me as well because so far i have about 3 hours of community service since i started high school

About a third of my class is in NHS. We are invited by having a certain average. Initiation is at the end of junior year, and whatever it is we do will begin in senior year.

NHS is a joke at our school

Sophomore year for us.

Mid- Junior year for us
We get an application and we have to write an essay on "our experiences on the achievement of an A average". The most ridiculous essay topic ever.

What GPA is needed?

there are like 6 kids in it at my school, and 5 of them graduated in june. i don't think they did anything really... but they got the sash thingys at graduation.

^^ It depends on the school. Some schools, all you have to me is in the top 20 percent(for instance, mine), but at other schools, it is really intense. GPA is not alwyas a cut off, because different schools have different policies.

^ At my school GPA is the only cut off. All we need is an 90+. That's why we have 200-300 members. And some people don't even bother to join.

NHS is a joke at my school also. All you need is a 3.5 or something. And you only need to get ten hours each semester.

NHS is definitely a joke at my school.

You need a 3.0 and 20 volunteer hrs/year. Thus, half of every class is in it. I didn't bother to join - I have better EC's in which to waste my time.

We need a 94+ average and TONS of leadership positions, volunteer hours, etc etc. It's crazy, there are only like 15 people in it each year.

In my school, the induction is in December. I don't know exactly what happens but a lot of people are accepted. All I really know is that the Senior members must write a speech of sorts about a newly-inducted Junior member for the ceremony, something that, if I ever get inducted, I will not look forward to.

At my school, if any junior has at least a 93, he/she is sent a letter in the mail requesting his/her presence at an NHS meeting. This takes place in September.

We were given a packet to fill out, which was basically the common application without the test scores or financial stuff. We had to write an essay, list all of our work experience, extracurriculars, and community service. Yeah, NHS is BIG at my school. Only about 7% of my class got admitted this year. They "try" to be selective.
